Super Meat Boy

In case you didn't hear me the first time, "Super Meat Boy," which launches on XBLA on October 20 for $15, is really effing good. Unfortunately the vast majority of the planet will have to wait until the 20th to see how good it is for themselves, but Team Meat decided to whet 2D platforming appetites out there with a new trailer for the game. Well, it's not really a trailer, it's more like a commercial. From 1991. Behold:

The "Resident Evil" franchise has grown to enormous proportions, with games and movies helping to spread the anti-Umbrella gospel around the world. But its beginnings were humble. Those who played the original "Resident Evil" game probably recall the horrible voice acting and writing that permeated throughout the adventure in Spencer's mansion. Infamous lines like "It might be handy if you, the Master of Unlocking, take it with you" were memes before we even knew what memes were.

In the past two days I spent about 12 hours playing "Halo: Reach," and while I can't discuss most of what I saw due to embargo restrictions, I was able to get Joseph Tung, the game's executive producer, to talk about some of the insane armor unlocks in the game.

As he says in the above video, you can customize different pieces of your SPARTAN armor. The options are much more varied than what was in the "Halo: Reach" beta, allowing players to customize helmets, shoulder pads, chest pieces, knee pads, wrist accessories, sidearm accessories and even the color of your visor. Those are the sorts of things most people will be customizing.

If you're having problems watching the video, try disabling your Ad Blocker. It's been causing problems for some people.

If you watch a lot of Discovery Channel, you're probably familiar with the name Bear Grylls. The unassuming Brit stars on "Man vs. Wild," a show about surviving in nature when you're, say, trapped on a tundra after an unfortunate base-jump skiing accident. Bear knows how to survive in a variety of these situations, and is more than happy to share his knowledge with the world. Crave Games even has a "Man vs. Wild" game coming out wherein you can attempt to live out Bear's greatest adventures, without the nasty downsides of having to eat bugs or perform surgery on yourself. You can check out some footage from the game right here.

BioShock Infinite

Now that all the excitement has run its course on the announcement of "BioShock Infinite," I wanted to return to a post I wrote on July 13th. Entitled "Irrational Working On 'BioShock 3' In My Dreams," it basically detailed a dream I had wherein I interviewed one of the developers of "BioShock 3" and discovered that it would take place on land (and, um, had some strange connection to the "Fallout" universe, which I'd prefer you ignore).

Irrational Games finished the first "BioShock" in 2007. Since then, we haven't heard a peep from the Boston-based developer. After passing "BioShock 2" on to 2K Marin, many thought the "BioShock" brand had left Irrational and its creator, Ken Levine. Turns out, many were wrong. Irrational has been working on the next installment in the franchise, "BioShock Infinite," since 2008, and it's definitely not just another return to Rapture.

Gamers

A word of advice: Don't try to take a man's DS.

An unlikely story unfolded in Hawaii late last week. A gaming cafe called PC Gamerz on the island of Oahu was attacked by a handful of masked teenagers. After rushing in and punching the employee at the front desk in the head, the teens made their way around the store, demanding money from the gamers in attendance. It wasn't until one of the masked men demanded the Nintendo DS of one of the gamers that things took a turn.

EA continues to trot out the old school NBA stars for the upcoming release of "NBA JAM" on Wii (and other platforms, apparently). We had already revealed that Magic Johnson and Larry Bird will be appearing in the game, and now we can see six more additions to the "JAM" roster in action:

(Spoiler Alert: Reach falls.)

Bungie's "Halo" trailers are usually pretty understated until the way end, at which point something ridiculous happens. Seems that they went another direction with the latest "Halo: Reach" campaign trailer, which has a solid dozen ridiculous things happening in just over a minute. The fleet of Warthogs cruising into battle against a fleet of Banshees probably takes the cake, but there are plenty of additional tidbits in there to drool over.

Hard to imagine that Bungie's final "Halo" game is only about a month and a half away. Now if only we had more new games coming out right now to distract us until then. "Mafia 2," please move your release date up to now. That'd be super.

StarCraft 2

A few months back, one of our MTV News producers took a stab at recreating the trailer for "Prince of Persia" in LEGO form. It was an impressive feat, but I think it might be matched by the work put in to recreating "StarCraft 2" with LEGOs. You can watch the incredible video below, which captures everything from base-building to garrisoning units to harvesting minerals. Hell, they even manage to recreate the fog of war.
