Transformers: War for Cybertron

The last few "Transformers" games were forgettable, and that's putting it kindly. True, they were based on movies, and that's a tough hill to climb, but they still never really stood out as exemplary pieces of software in any major way. It was with that in mind that I went in to see "Transformers: War for Cybertron." My expectations were not very high. Thankfully my first glimpse at the game met and exceeded those expectations (though, admittedly, that's not much of a triumph).

With a new developer (High Moon Studios) and a new engine (Unreal), "Transformers: War for Cybertron" is another beast entirely. It's an action game starring robots that turn into vehicles, but there's a lot more to cover beyond that basic facade.

Transformers: War for Cybertron

Longtime Transformers followers will recognize the setting for Activision's latest announcement as neither the world of Michael Bay's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," nor the 1980s cartoon series. Instead, "Transformers: War for Cybertron" flashes back to the pre-Earth lives of the Autobots and Decepticons on their home planet.

Dead Space 2 Megatron

Call me crazy, but the updated helmet for the recently-announced "Dead Space 2" looks a heck of a lot like someone who might disapprove of the Autobots in every shape and form (including truck). Yes, everyone's favorite raspy-voiced villain, Megatron, seems to have inspired the hero's helmet, since the two have the exact same shape and style.

Or I'm crazy. Whatever the case, it seems that this month's Game Informer will have the first info on the direct sequel. Fingers crossed for a Soundwave cameo!

Shia LaBeouf, who is starring in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," is apparently not a huge fan of the Wii (despite there being a Wii version of the new "Transformers" video game. Speaking with The Big Download, LaBeouf said the following incendiary remark:

"This is how in a simple way you can find out if it's a gamer you want to play with. Ask them if they have a Wii. If they say yes, get the f*** out of there."

Wow, don't hold back there, Shia! Always good to see actors going off the chain a little bit.

Shia Labeouf, Megan Fox and Peter Cullen are apparently pretty pumped about the new video game based on their upcoming flick, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." You can check out the footage up top, which includes the actors talking about the features of the game, as well as new gameplay clips of robots blowing the crap out of other robots. God bless technology!
