Ever wonder why the game you've brought home pales in comparison to the movie you just watched? Kotaku is running an interesting piece about what goes wrong with many video games based on summer blockbuster movies. In the case of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" (pictured above) I would definitely give the edge to the game, which is flawed but not mind-numbingly painful to sit through.

Anyway, the most interesting bits relate to why companies are so deadset on releasing a game alongside a movie's release (rather than waiting and making sure it's good). Game/movie tie-ins can share marketing dollars since you can push both products at once. Unfortunately this usually means that the game is rushed out in time with the movie.

The flip side to this is the "GoldenEye" effect, a game that released long after the movie and still ended up doing gangbusters. And yes, it rocked, which I'm sure helped.

Anyway, take a sit and give the piece a read!

Shia Labeouf, Megan Fox and Peter Cullen are apparently pretty pumped about the new video game based on their upcoming flick, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." You can check out the footage up top, which includes the actors talking about the features of the game, as well as new gameplay clips of robots blowing the crap out of other robots. God bless technology!

Activision has announced its E3 line-up and it’s, well, a lot. Here’s what they’ll be showing next week:

"Modern Warfare 2"
"DJ Hero"
"Guitar Hero 5"
"Tony Hawk: Ride"
"Blur"
"Singularity"
"Prototype"
"Wolfenstein"
"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"
"Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2"

Variety seems to be the name of the game when it comes to the line-up, as it’s pretty much all over the place. I’ve spent quite a bit of time with "Wolfenstein, "Transformers" and "Marvel", but apart from a trailer, Modern Warfare 2 remains shrouded in mystery. There’s also the insane skateboard controller of Tony Hawk: Ride, which I’m definitely eager to get my hands on. And then there’s DJ Hero, which I’m hoping won’t overwhelm my limited ability to multi-task.

More important, how the heck am I going to get through all of these games in the 2 hours I have allotted to meet with Activision? This is unfortunately the blessing and the curse of E3: Lots of awesome games and no time to play them.
