Based on their stellar track record, fighting fans have come to expect great things from Capcom, since they always seem to go the extra mile when it comes to their marquee brawler franchises. Over the last few years they have set the 2D fighting bar higher and higher, first with Street Fighter IV, and then with Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, but their first joint venture with Namco Bandai, Street Fighter X Tekken, truly proves why they consistently stand above their competition, even when their competition is in their game. Gamers are just a few weeks away from finally get their hands on SF X T on March 6, and when they do, here are some of the things they are going to be talking about the most.

Namco Bandai had a big surprise for "Tekken" fans during Comic-Con this weekend. I'm not talking about a little surprise here, either. In fact, I would say the company had a plethora of "Tekken" announcements on hand to please even the most battle-hardened fan of the iconic franchise. As it turns out, you're not only getting a PlayStation 3 bundle called "Tekken Hybrid," but you can also play "Tekken Bowl" on your iOS device for the finest price: free.

You probably already know that Capcom is working on a new crossover fighter which features the characters from the "Street Fighter" universe duking it out with characters from Namco's "Tekken" universe. "Street Fighter X Tekken" is not to be confused with "Tekken X Street Fighter," which is being worked on by Namco. While that may seem a bit redundant, Capcom's game will play more like a traditional "Street Fighter" release, while Namco's will play more like a "Tekken" game. Still with me?
While I can't speak to Namco's project, I did get the chance to play a handful of matches in "Street Fighter X Tekken," and was struck by a new feature which will surely throw a kink into the strategies of resident "SF" masters.

The Tekken franchise had already hit a milestone by getting adapted to film before Namco Bandai announced a pair of Street Fighter/Tekken games in July. Unfortunately, if you lived outside of Japan you probably didn't get to see the movie. A company called Anchor Bay Entertainment intends to change that, however, for U.S., Australia and New Zealand residents. They're reached a distribution agreement with the movie's makers at Crystal Sky Pictures, and they want it out in 2011.

Capcom's crossover fighting game announcements didn't stop at "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" character reveals at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The company hosted a panel that went beyond their own offices and unveiled "Street Fight X Tekken," which Capcom will produce and "Tekken X Capcom," which will come from Namco Bandai.

Fans of fighting games tend to have their loyalties divided between the "Tekken" and "Soul Calibur" franchises these days, with each side arguing the merits of their respective title and its various iterations over the last decade or so. The recently released "Tekken 6" raises that bar yet again, giving fighter fans a lot to be happy about and redefining the scope of the genre.

UPDATE: That may actually be "Tekken" mainstay Yoshimitsu, in a Cardboard Tube Samurai outfit. Seems that pre-orders through various retailers will allow you to access a code to unlock the costume for the samurai robot.
Fighting games seem to be the genre most open to strange cross-overs. A SPARTAN in "Dead or Alive"? Darth Vader in "Soul Calibur"? The latest in a long line of franchise jumpers is probably more niche than you'd expect from a big name like Tekken, but it's guarenteed to bring it a wave of fans.
Yes, that's the Cardboard Tube Samurai, a long-time spin-off character in the universe of Penny Arcade. Even though his head is cast down and his hat covers most of his face, the telltale Pac-Man which adorns his robes makes him pretty much a given.
While the CTS (as he's commonly known) is a perfect fit for "Tekken," I couldn't help but wonder what other characters would've made for good fighting game fodder. The Fruit F***** seems like an obvious choice, but what about Twisp and Catsby as a potentially deadly duo?
