There's an old saying, "there's no such thing as bad publicity." Though it was critically panned, "Duke Nukem Forever" appears to have pulled off some decent U.S. sales figures last month. According to the NPD Group, the game managed to take the second-highest sales spot for the month of June. Leading all software titles for the month was Rockstar's "L.A. Noire," the second month it has dominated the sales charts. Third place went to Sony's "inFamous 2."

I love PixelJunk games. Q Games have developed a brand that works perfectly within the realm of downloadable titles; they're fun little games that are incredibly easy to pick up, but offer enough difficulty and creativity to really engage you. The last two "PixelJunk Shooter" games were enjoyable shoot-em-ups, but I was totally surprised when "PixelJunk SideScroller" appeared out of nowhere. This game was way below the radar – I have no idea why – and I was immediately excited when I spotted the game during a stroll through Sony's E3 booth today.

Since the PS3 launched, Q-Games has been hammering away at the PlayStation Network with their PixelJunk series. These retro-styled 2D games have been a big hit with fans, and offer a delightful mix of art and gameplay. 2009's "Pixeljunk Shooter" was the best of the bunch, blending exploration, fluid dynamics and mind-bending puzzles. Unfortunately, the game was over after just a few hours. But cheer up! "Pixeljunk Shooter 2" releases this week and manages to trump its predecessor in just about every way.

"Pixel Junk Monsters Deluxe," which looks a heck of a lot better on the PSP's screen than it does in the above screenshot, has apparently fallen to the fate experienced by most PSP software: Obscenely high rates of piracy. Dylan Cuthbert, the president of Q-Games (the Pixel Junk developer), made a brief Twitter post talking about his disappointment:
