"Plants vs. Zombies" has become one of my MacBook gaming mainstays, but I can't help but think that it should expand beyond the PC computing world. Thankfully I'm not alone! In an interview with Kombo.com, Garth Chouteau, PR guru of Popcap, expounded on the odds of seeing "PvZ" on other platforms:
"'Peggle' for XBLA is a good example of a game that we took that was popular on the PC and we spent probably twice as long as anyone else would have figuring how to make that game really good for Xbox and Xbox Live Arcade, and I think you will see that with 'Plants Vs. Zombies'--I don't know the exact order in which that game will make its way onto other platforms, but it's certainly been successful enough, quickly enough, that we're looking at other platforms and deciding where we'll take that game next..."

Over the weekend, "Peggle" on iPhone was lowered from five dollars to just one. (Sorry if you missed it, the price is back up to five.) As I mentioned previously, it wasn't just PopCap being nice. No, it was just their way of "hacking" the iPhone AppStore, which is overly biased towards best-selling titles, listing those apps with the highest sales right at the top.
The issue with this method is that the top-selling list is determined by the number of times that app has been purchased, not the total amount of money that app has made. Therefore, more expensive apps are at a huge disadvantage, getting pushed down by the myriad of fart simulators that sell for a buck.

If you haven't experienced "Peggle" yet, there's never been a better time. Sorry if I sound like an infomercial, but "Peggle" is an excellent game, and PopCap has temporarily lowered the price of the iPhone version to a buck. The deal ends on June 14th, so no need to frantically search for an open WiFi connection, but just keep it in mind.
The AppStore continues to play host to these sort of deals, which are great for consumers, but it's pretty clear why PopCap made the move. Since the App Store lists based on sales, a price drop will result in a purchase increase, which moves "Peggle" higher up the list, which, in turn, results in more purchases. No, no hippie dippy communism here, this is straight up capitalism. Thankfully in this case it helps all parties.
So that Mounds bar you're chomping on? Yeah, that could've been "Peggle." Get on it!
