Yesterday we showed how the Oculus Rift can put one in the cockpit of classic console gaming fare. And today is an example of it placing you in the cockpit of one the most famous spacecraft of all time, in one of the most famous movie scenes of all time.

We've seen plenty of examples as to why the Oculus Rift is seriously the next big step in video games. Yet, no matter how varied the demos, they've all had one single thread in common: they were all PC games.

Or at the very least, none of them hailed from consoles originally. Well, as it turns out, console games look pretty awesome with the VR headset as well.

As we've noted plenty of times already, the Oculus Rift can increase the immersive qualities of a game exponentially. Though, as it turns out, and somewhat predictably, the VR gaming headset can also make an already scary game even scarier.

Unless you've been living under a rock, then you've probably been hearing a lot about the Oculus Rift virtual reality platform. This Kickstarted virtual reality system provides a set of goggles that will take you into another world, much like people do in Neal Stephenson's "Snow Crash" while fleeing the real world for one made out of pixels. At QuakeCon two years ago, John Carmack demoed a prototype unit to the media that was running "Doom 3." Even through the thing was held together with duct tape, baling wire, and sheer grit, it was a very impressive demo. The development kit has been available from Oculus for some time now, clocking in at $300 and only available in standard definition. However, at PAX Prime, we were able to check out the HD prototype unit, which will most likely be available next year. And? It is one of the most incredible things I have ever experienced.

Everyone knows by now how crazy immersive the Oculus Rift VR headset is; you've either experienced it firsthand yourself or have heard from others that have (and who won't shut up about it.)

Anyhow, it was only a matter of time before the Oculus Rift was used for something else other than placing someone in the middle of their favorite game with just a whole new viewpoint.

Like using it to simulate real world experiences that are not quite accessible to the masses. Have you ever skydived? Would you like to, but without the risk of possibly going splat?

Virtually everyone who has experienced the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset will tell you that its immersive qualities is a revelation, the bold step forward for gaming and technology as a whole that many of us have long dreamt off.

Unfortunately, a good deal of those people will also tell you that they were not able to handle the future for very long, due to getting dizzy and the fear of becoming sick.

Is it motion sickness? Not exactly, though it's certainly related; the actual term is simulation sickness. And it's something that the folks at Oculus VR are trying to tackles.

CustomMaid3D

When the Oculus Rift's VR headset was unveiled, everyone knew it would only be a matter of time before someone made a sex game for the thing, naturally. And the very first one out of the gate hails from Japan. Again, naturally.

It's actually like most games announced for the Rift thus far, meaning it's an older title that is getting support for the device added on. The name is Custom Maid 3D and there's a good chance you may have heard of it already.

No, not because you're way into such things (not that there's anything wrong with that, by the way). But because its debut earlier this year made tons of headline because of its own peripheral: you put your penis inside the thing.
