If "Epic Mickey" got into your head so deep that you find yourself whistling its tunes during non-gaming hours and remembering fondly your times spent painting across Wasteland, you may be interested to know that the Jim Dooley-composed soundtrack that was used for it will soon be available on a standalone disc or over iTunes. An announcement from Disney Interactive Studios today tagged the 20-track collection for December 21, at which point you'll be able to listen to the Emmy winner's new tunes whenever you wish.

Developer Pop Quiz is a weekly interview series in which we ask developers from around the industry the same 10 questions and post their responses.
One of the most respected names in the games industry, Warren Spector, just released his first major game while at helm of Junction Point Studios. "Disney Epic Mickey" has been one of the most anticipated games of the year, and the mind behind it has years worth of experience and wisdom, which he was happy to share in this week's Developer Pop Quiz. These answers were submitted while "Epic Mickey" was still in the final testing phase.

When word started to spread that Warren Spector, the mind behind classic games like "Deus Ex" and "Thief," was working on a title starring Mickey Mouse, it was, well, surprising. After all, those games aren't exactly safe for all ages, and Spector is known for creating new and interesting worlds. How would he and his team fare with an established, family-friendly franchise? The answer can be found in the playing of "Disney Epic Mickey," a game which unfortunately fails more often than it succeeds.

Junction Point's "Epic Mickey" is coming along swimmingly and is likely be one of the best 3rd party Wii games ever released. I had a brief walkthrough of some of the game's intro levels today and the mix of platforming, puzzle mechanics and morality choices (a staple of the game's creator, Warren Spector) are looking exceedingly sharp. But something caught my eye while I was playing through the preview build: Mickey's ears.

Knowing when the "Epic Mickey" Collector's Edition will be available should be a lot more useful to everyone now that the game from Junction Point and Disney Interactive Studios has an official release date set. Figurine Mickey, the behind-the-scenes DVD, their special packaging and the regular Everyman Edition of his new Wii title will appear in stores on November 30 in the U.S., several days after it ships to Europe on November 25 and the U.K. on November 26.

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 copies of "Epic Mickey" may not be available to pre-order order at this point, but the as-of-right-now Wii-exclusive game does have a new Collectors' Edition up for grabs. Junction Point's odyssey through Disney history will come with a few extras, including a five-inch Mickey figurine, console skins, a remote faceplate, and a DVD with "behind-the-scenes video" if you're willing to put down $69.99 instead of the standard $49.99 MSRP attached to the basic game-in-a-plastic-case package.

Disney went on the record earlier this year to say that they might have taken "Epic Mickey" multiplatform if they'd known more about Kinect and PlayStation Move during the game's inception. Now that Kinect and Move are out there, though, could Junction Point's project waver on its Wii exclusivity like "NBA Jam"? The studio's founder Warren Spector doesn't see why not.

Nintendo's E3 event featured an extended look at "Epic Mickey," so the world now has a slightly better point of reference when Warren Spector talks about his creative intentions in the game. Specifically, he's now trying to court the affections of Nintendo fans, calling his new Wii-exclusive a descendant of Mario, Zelda and "Deus Ex" sensibilities.
"I started this project wanting to merge the best of adventure games, such as Zelda, platform games, such as Mario, and my own games, such as 'Deus Ex,'" Spector told Edge.

Just because Disney and Junction Point decided to make "Epic Mickey" exclusive to the Wii doesn't mean they might not change their minds and take it to other systems in the future. A multiplatform approach had been considered before Warren Spector convinced Disney to avoid the 360 and PS3, and as of right now that's still the official plan. After the initial launch, however, anything is possible.
