Jay-Z, Eminem, Daft Punk and the late DJ AM are all slated to appear in "DJ Hero" when the game launches on October 30th, but Activision may already be hunting names to a appear in "DJ Hero 2." FreeStyleGames has reportedly already engaged at least one independent UK-based games developer, as well as turntablism visionary DJ Qbert, to collaborate on the the series' unannounced follow-up.

Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard CEO and one of the more quotable executives in the gaming industry, is always coming up with new ways to sell consumers a plastic guitar. Plastic guitars have been very good to Activision in the past five years.
So good, in fact, that the “Guitar Hero” franchise almost single handedly made Activision the most successful game publisher on the planet. With sales on the decline, it’s high time they spice up the line to keep it profitable. Branching out with “DJ Hero”’s a start. The next step is cutting out those pesky console holders and their licensing fees.

Last week we revealed some teaser art from "DJ Hero" which was hinting Daft Punk's involvement in the game. Specifically: A pair of robotic hands using the "DJ Hero" turn table controller.
Today comes with it a press release which locks down the French/Martian duo's participation in the game, including which of their tracks will be playable. Check out the playable song list after the break.

An inside source offered up a very slick looking promotional shot for "DJ Hero," which may have never seen the light of day had it not been for his or her tireless efforts. Like the A-Team, he or she has asked to remain anonymous, and we respect his or her need to right the world's wrongs from the shadows.

Russ already found out how to play "DJ Hero," but now the inner workings of the game's controller are publicly available on the World Wide Web, thanks to the Federal Communications Commission. A smattering of files including radiation tests, a user manual and -- to the joy of provocative computer-chip photo lovers -- pictures of the turntable's insides have all been compiled and posted.

I didn't really understand the draw of "DJ Hero" until I played it. While I liked the new style of music, I couldn't help but feel burned out on rhythm games which have, lets face it, gotten a little stale in the last year or two.
But, in playing "DJ Hero" I found a renewed interest. And it's not 'cause of the music, or the presentation (even though both of those factors are quite solid). It's, very simply, the gameplay. Even though it's a rhythm game, it feels "new," and that's what grabbed me.

After Activision bought out the original developer of "Scratch," 7 Studios, the game was left in a kind of limbo. That ends today, as a new developer has been revealed for "Scratch." Commotion Interactive is a division of Bedlam Games, and is a development house focused on music and party games.
