"Dead Rising 2" fixed a lot of the problems that gamers had with the original "Dead Rising," as well as added numerous improvements that left fans wanting more. However, there was one key thing missing from the "DR2": Frank West. The hardened photojournalist that survived the Willamette Mall outbreak had won the hearts of fans, but was left out of his own game's sequel. While Frank's absence didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment that "Dead Rising 2" offered, his people pleaded for his return, and in "Dead Rising 2: Off The Record" their prayers are answered.

As I exit the toy store, wearing a dress, my friend has already set about 12 R/C helicopters afloat. They're smacking – with satisfying gushes of gore – into the heads of any zombies who happen to stumble our way, and that's when we see them: the tricycles. The next 15 minutes are a bizarre combination of horror film and Benny Hill shtick, as we laugh our asses off into our headsets, pedaling around the macabre display.
That's just one experience I had playing "Dead Rising 2" co-op with a friend. Of course, it was always short-lived or awkward, thanks to the game's insistence that we continue the campaign when all we really wanted to do was goof off. According to Capcom, that all changes with the upcoming expansion, "Dead Rising 2: Off The Record."

Back in the days before breakthrough franchises like "Lost Planet" and "Dead Rising," Capcom had taken on a rather conservative approach to the development of new properties. The company, apparently facing tight budget restrictions, had adopted a policy that almost entirely restricted the implementation of original titles. According to former Capcom development guru Keiji Inafune, he may have actually saved the company by breaking those very rules.

The hero of "Dead Rising 2," an extreme sports aficionado named Chuck Greene, was not welcomed with open arms at first. Fans of the franchise had grown to love another man, a photojournalist named Frank West, who had saved dozens (or, in some cases, three) from Willamette Mall in the original game. But for the sequel, he was replaced. Fans were not happy. And while Frank did return for the post-release DLC, it wasn't the same as having him star in his own game. So Capcom is giving him just that: "Dead Rising 2: Off the Record."

Frank West and Chuck Greene's fated post-"Dead Rising 2" meeting and adventure into the Phenotrans Facility for "Dead Rising 2: Case West" received a December commitment from Capcom a few weeks ago, but they've gone ahead and locked the game in for a more accurate launch date on December 27 as of today. The standalone adventure with human and computer-assisted co-op options will squeeze into a slot on the Xbox Live Marketplace before the end of the year, so if an online zombie-hunting fest is your idea of a rockin' New Year's Eve, it will be here in time to serve your needs.

The "Dead Rising 2" prequel "Case Zero" tested the waters on Xboxes before Capcom's high-profile zombie sequel came out this year, and December has now been locked down for Act 3. "Dead Rising 2: Case West" will not only provide an epilogue for the story via co-op gameplay; it's going to revive photographer and star of the first "Dead Rising" Frank West, who will be carrying his camera.

Capcom revealed today that four DLC costume packs are on the way for "Dead Rising 2." In addition to providing a new look for Chuck as he battles thousands of undead gamblers, each of the costumes comes with different abilities. The costumes include a Ninja outfit, a Sports Fan outfit, a Psychopath outfit and a Soldier outfit. If that sounds familiar to you, you probably noticed that those outfits were previously available as pre-order bonuses at different video game retailers. But no more!

Frank West will return in "Dead Rising 2: Case West", but he'll also be getting a whole new original game for the iPhone and iPod touch which looks like it's going to be called "Dead Rising Mobile." Utilizing a control system that's been customized for the small touchscreen format, the title will reportedly include some innovative online multiplayer options.

Yesterday I discussed how to make easy money in "Dead Rising 2." Today I'm here to let you know of five items which will help you immensely as you attempt to wrangle Fortune City back from hordes of undead. Considering there are hundreds of equippable items to be found in "Dead Rising 2," it was pretty tough to narrow it down, but it's safe to say that having one or all of these items will make your life a heck of a lot longer.
