Way back when the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" Xbox 360 bundles were announced, Activision acknowledged that no PS3 equivalent was in the works, and it wasn't hard to see that the game had picked its primary platform partner. Now, 360 owners are about to see another perk -- 30-day advance access to "MW2" DLC.

Let me put this bluntly: Slamming X a bunch of times to do something mundane like open a door is not fun. It's never been fun. I'm not sure how or why developers came up with the notion that it'd be a good idea to make players sweat to accomplish seemingly simple tasks, but it's a horrible practice that should die as soon as possible.
That's not to say that there's no room for portraying "effort" in a game. There's a value in it, as it allows players to share a moment with their avatar, as both are physically exerting themselves at the same time. But there's a time and a place.

Clearly someone over at Activision knows a thing or two about what the kids like, so they've gone and melded the two most popular franchises on the planet right now: "Call of Duty" and "Twilight." Yes, you never thought it would happen, but the day is finally here. Screw "God of War." Screw "Natal." This is the future. Trailer after the break!

At Microsoft's keynote at CES this year, it was announced that an timed exclusive expansion pack for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" would be coming to the Xbox 360. The news that exclusive content would be coming to the 360 was initially detailed at last year's E3, when two timed exclusive map packs were announced for release in 2010.
But the map packs weren't mentioned in Microsoft's CES keynote. Instead they spoke of an "expansion." Interesting, but probably not in the way you think. After all, it seems that companies are starting to ditch the term DLC in favor of the more old school "expansion pack," which conveys a meatier experience.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" raked in a pile of cash this year with a $310 million first day on the market. The game went on to pass the $500 million mark in its first week, but the crown for best-selling game of 2009 has come with another honor -- Most Illegally Downloaded Game of 2009.

Last week I gave my top 5 favorite games of 2009. I'm well aware that 5 was not nearly enough to include every enjoyable game that released in the last 12 months, so I've handed it off to the contributors of MTV Multiplayer to share some of their picks. These are specifically games that didn't make my list, but are still awesome and noteworthy.

A new software modification seems to be spreading virally throughout "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" online play for the Xbox 360, and the Internet buzz about it resembles the type of thing you'd hear around a high school with an STD outbreak. In what amounts to a virus being spread over Xbox Live, players are reporting that they joined a private match only to emerge with unlimited ammo and nonexistent reloading times. To make matters worse, they can carry the infection on to other players as they move on to new matches.

Square Enix has taken over publishing duties for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" in Japan, and the game will sport at least one key difference when it launches tomorrow. Unlike the North American edition of "MW2," players will not be able to win while shooting civilians in the now-infamous "No Russian" scene.

This is hardly scientific, but after the disastrous gaming session I had two nights ago while playing "Modern Warfare 2," it seems like the javelin glitch is mostly gone from Xbox Live games. If you don't know what I'm talking about, count yourself lucky. If you do, it seems that yesterday's warnings from Microsoft, saying that griefers would receive temporary bans from Xbox Live, did the trick. I played for about two hours last night with nary a suicidal rocket attack to be found.

After taking a few days off to, you know, play other things, I returned to "Modern Warfare 2" last night for some oft-enjoyable multiplayer. Unfortunately just about every game I joined was awash with people using the "javelin glitch." Without giving you clues on how to pull it off (I'm sure jerks can figure that out for themselves), it basically allows you to let loose a massive explosion the second you die. In short, you become a portable predator missile strike, killing anything within 30 feet of you. I played a few private matches instead.
