This weekend, the Sony Online Entertainment's Planetside 2 beta is getting streaming functionality to via Twitch in a new update. What this means is that in lieu of ungainly or expensive capture software, players in the MMOFPS can simply run stream their games through Twitch's service with the push of a button.

I think it's safe to say most of us have mixed feelings when it comes to Wii U and the new GamePad controller. Sometimes I feel like it could be awesome, other times, not so much. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford, however, appears more than happy to share his praise for Nintendo's new peripheral. Doom. It's a name that every gamer knows, no matter how young or old they are. It's the game that helped define a genre that has overtaken the industry. The games have been around for almost 20 years, helping to establish id Software as a force to be reckoned with, and the team behind it, including John Carmack and John Romero, as some of the biggest names in development. Doom and Doom II took video games by storm in the 1990s, but then the franchise went quiet – at least in terms of new games. While there were spinoffs and updates, longtime fans yearned for Doom 3, which they finally received in 2004. Now, seven years after its release, Doom 3 is back in the BFG Edition, updated and improved for this console generation's hardware, and packing a few surprises.

When you think "free to play" there's a certain method of thinking for many gaming enthusiasts, conjuring images of lower quality, casual games that more often than not plague Facebook and many flash portals. Despite the somewhat mixed association with F2P games and the generic name, Crytek and Trion World's wants you to jump feet first into a triple-A experience in the free to play realm of online shooters with Warface.
I'm not exactly sure what a "warface" is but the name reminds me of this scene from "Full Metal Jacket"; however, last week I got to play a little bit of the shooter. Read on to see if you have what it takes to put on your war face.

One of the things that set this console generation apart from all of the others is that developers have given the player more freedom than ever before. Countless games this generations billed themselves as sandbox games that allowed the player to do what they want, how they wanted to do it. The inherent catch always was that what you had to do everything within the confines of the level design. But, what if a game was so expertly designed that it offered you a multitude of options, so much so that it would allow players to make choices based on what they wanted to do. Sure, it may sound run of the mill, but how many times have you actually done that? Take a moment to think about it. Now, contemplate the idea of playing a game as an assassin that doesn't need to kill anyone, at all, if he doesn't want to. It makes that idea sound pretty exceptional. Such is the story behind Arkane Studios' Dishonored.

Halo and PepsiCo have a pretty long history, first introducing gamers to their GameFuel version of Mountain Dew back in 2007. Now it looks like they're up to it again for Halo 4, but this time, instead of just delivering a caffeine rich beverage to keep you playing all night, the promotion is offering gamers Double XP in Halo 4's multiplayer game modes. In the first two parts of a three-part web series, developer Arkane Studios explores what went down before Dishonored's supernatural assassin Corvo began walking the path of vengeance. In the first one, "The Awakening," a philosopher ponders his life's ambitions only to discover that everything he worked for was wrong.
The trio of shorts are scored by Dexter composer Daniel Licht who also supplies the music for the game.

It seems that even the disasterpiece that was the protracted development of Duke Nukem Forever can keep 3D Realms down. The studio has laid out the first scant details of their next project, the crowdfunded FPS Earth No More via the new video game-centric crowdsourcing site Gambitious.
