Although we had our own thoughts about what it meant for EA to pick up the "Star Wars" license in an exclusive deal with Disney, we didn't imagine it would mean the publisher would immediately start cranking out games based on the franchise. This new batch of screens from the upcoming prequel show Batman and the masked assassin Slade (aka Deathstroke the Terminator) squaring off, while villain Black Mask takes a stroll and the Caped Crusader sends a short crook on what looks like a long trip.

By the way, looking at Batman's earlier armor here: is anyone else noticing any major differences? To my eye, it looks more rounded and less "plated" than his "Arkham Asylum" and "Arkham City" gear--softer, perhaps.

We've had a day to digest the news that EA now has the exclusive rights to make games based on the "Star Wars" universe, and that they've, in turn, tapped Visceral and DICE to make new titles with all-new story and gameplay (with BioWare doing... something).

And predictably, we all groaned and fretted about what this would mean for the gaming future of our beloved franchise--"how badly will EA mess this up," we asked. Honestly, though, I'm looking forward to whatever comes out of EA, good or bad. So after the jump, check out five reasons to look forward to EA's taking over "Star Wars" along with five reasons to keep that excitement in check.

Telltale's adventure game based on the long-running Vertigo series is coming out this summer, and the developer is starting to do slow rollout of what to expect from the game at various media outlets in advance of "Fables'" summer release on Xbox LIVE, PSN, Mac, and the PC.
