In the fourth installment of "What We're NOT Playing," we talk about new releases we're avoiding for whatever reasons. Our usual moderator Stephen Totilo bows out and all hell breaks loose.
The rest of the gang gets a little hostile discussing the new PSP Slim, the overall line of PSP titles, playing games on the subway and sports games.
Here's an excerpt from what went down:
JasonCipriano: has there ever been a sports game you've enjoyed?
JasonMitchell: i feel stupid digitally kicking a ball when i can just go outside and kick a real one
JasonCipriano: but you don't
TraceyJohn: That's how I feel about FPS... why shoot fake people when I can shoot real ones?
JasonCipriano: i can go outside and rob a bank as well, but it’s much more fun to not get arrested for it

In week three of "What We're NOT Playing," we fret over why we're avoiding "The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass" (for the moment!), some of the PSP's latest and an anticipated Xbox 360 title that we actually agree should be good.
So what's our problem?
And what role does a field of beautiful flowers play?
Here's a sampling:
JasonCipriano: This week I wont be playing "PGR 4" - but pretty much only for this week
JasonCipriano: I'm currently running through "Dirt" - which is really great, and it's hard for me to immediately follow up a driving/racing game with another
JasonCipriano: so i might enjoy that in a couple weeks,
JasonCipriano: but not this week
StephenTotilo: Ah, the old back-to-back genre problem. Last summer (2006) I tried to play "Dragon Quest VIII" and "Oblivion" simultaneously. Bad idea

Last week, we launched our regular feature "What We're NOT Playing."
In this feature, we discuss new releases, and instead of talking about all the games that we are playing (booo-ring), we talk about the titles we're avoiding. Whether it's because of things we've heard, hapless neglect or just plain personal tastes, some games -- both good and bad -- go untouched for whatever serious and/or strange reasons. Here, we try to find out why.
This week, in the "No Girls Allowed" edition (I wasn't able to participate due to a meeting), the boys get tough on flight sims, ponder playing prequels before sequels and argue over the cuteness of games (wish I was there for that one -- oh well, next time). Here's an excerpt:
JasonCipriano: I'm skippin' right over "Dewy's Adventure" this week
StephenTotilo: why? you don't believe in supporting 3rd party originals for the Wii?
GeraldFlannory: too cute for you Cip?
JasonCipriano: a - I still haven't beaten "Elebits"
JasonCipriano: 2 - yeah this one might actually be too cutesy
StephenTotilo: a... 2??? nice counting
JasonCipriano: YOU WILL APPRECIATE MY COUNTING SKILLZ
Make the jump for more mayhem.

Did you ever avoid buying a game? Ever avoid playing one?
Sure you did! No one, not even our Achievements-loving Jason Cipriano plays every game out there. But why do we -- why do you -- avoid the ones you avoid? Is it because of a bad review? A bad TV commercial? A disappointing developer interview? Maybe you were holding your money for something else? Maybe you don't play games that don't support a quick-save feature?
Whatever the case, we think that the reasons people don't play certain games need to be discussed. We bet some of the reasons are the fault of game developers, publishers and marketers, and some of them are simply quirks of players' personalities. But what are these reasons, big, small, serious and ridiculous?
So here we go, the kick-off of "What We're NOT Playing," a Multiplayer regular feature that will explore which games any of us here are avoiding -- even some very good ones you should check out -- and why.
Hey video games, it's not always you. Sometimes it's us. Here's an excerpt:
JasonCipriano: there's an "Agatha Christie" game out this week as well ... does that really need to exist?
StephenTotilo: ??
StephenTotilo: What's wrong with Agatha Christie?
StephenTotilo: now you're just hating
