I played many games during my three day weekend, and finished three of them: "Deadly Creatures," "House of the Dead Overkill" and "Far Cry 2." I'll have reviews of at least two of them later this week. The standout video game moment for the weekend happened last night. My wife, a friend and I were dining at a Yemeni restaurant in Brooklyn on Atlantic Avenue when I noticed a man behind the cash register showing off the box of a new Nintendo DSi. This was launch day, and he was excited. If the DSi is big in the Yemeni Cafe, then, well, can we conclude it's a big deal? At least it's fun to spot games and game systems in places were one doesn't expect to see them. Oh, and the Yemen Cafe has amazing lamb dishes. Recommended.

Yeah, that's right. Tracey's game diary. Stephen took a well-deserved day off (even though he just magically posted his diary as I was writing this)... But I still get to do whatever I want. Read more...

I'm home on "vacation" today, Diary readers. Be nice to Tracey while she manages the blog on her own today (and probably does some post-GDC catching up of her own, too). You can expect a couple of stories from me today anyway, including a "Brutal Legend" impressions piece in a couple of hours. I wrote it yesterday, because today... I won't be working. Well, unless you consider that, technically, playing video games is work. I'm off to go finish "Deadly Creatures"...

Not much time to write a diary entry this morning, so I'm just going to repeat something I wrote on the MTV Multiplayer Twitter feed yesterday: "Do you know how "Devil May Cry"'s Dante juggles his enemies with 2 guns? I just discovered that enemies in EA's "Zubo" can juggle you with farts"

Who knew that EA's first turn-based role-playing game in years -- one made for kids -- could be.... good? Read more...

While playing "Far Cry 2" last night, my mind was wandering. This can happen easily, because "Far Cry 2," though it is a first-person shooter, is a relaxed game. There's a lot of driving through countryside. Driving through countryside = time to think. Read more...

Something bizarre has appeared in my apartment: a pile -- not one, but a pile -- of Wii games I want to play. Read more...

As of 4pm ET yesterday, I officially became a successful video game reporter. That's the hour when Kotaku posted a video interview with video game parody group Mega 64, a video that included a member of Mega 64 briefly pretending to be me. The moment occurs near 10:20 mark of Kotaku's Mega 64 interview. It's not the funniest thing ever, but I'm not complaining. They also do Kotaku's Brian Crecente and Luke Plunkett as well as "N-Gage" Croal.
