The launch of "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" Season two kicks off our coverage of new fights (and fighters) for the Machinima web series. Check out the first episode below. Later today, we'll bring you interviews with some of the stars and creators who've brought the battle for Earthrealm to your PC.

1:30 EST - Interview: Mark Dacascos (Kung Lao)
2:30 EST - Interview: Casper Van Dien (Johnny Cage)
4:30 EST - Interview: Director Kevin Tancharoen

Director Kevin Tancharoen returns for a second season of "Mortal Kombat: Legacy," introducing new combatants--er, kombatants--in the second round. The first episode kicks off with a drunken Liu Kang (Brian Tee, "The Wolverine") getting saved by fellow Shaolin monk Kung Lao (Mark Dacoscos, "The Brotherhood of the Wolf") in a seedy Macau bar. Limbs will be shattered and teeth unexpectedly removed as Liu Kang deals with some anger issues.

Earlier today, we mentioned screenwriter David S Goyer's observations as to why so many video game movies fail. In his opinion, if a game's central character is not compelling, then the actor portraying him or her will have little to work with.

So it'll be interesting to see how Aaron Paul (who's a hot commodity right now, thanks to "Breaking Bad") fares with his depiction of the nameless, faceless person behind the wheel in EA's various "Need For Speed" games.

Unless you're able to give your character a name, which is possible in some installments. In that case, Paul will be playing the role of "BringBackNightCourt247" (my go to handle for any driving game).

In the fiction of the "Legacy of Kain" universe, the land of Nosgoth has been ravaged by an ongoing war between mutant vampire lords and the well-armed humans that don't want to be eaten by them. Well, the "Legacy of Kain" universe will be getting a little bloodier in the class-based humans vs. vampires competitive multiplayer game, "Nosgoth."

You didn't expect Valve to announce its own OS without a box to run it on, did you? Today they announced that they would be partnering with multiple developers as well as creating their own prototype hardware in 2014, as well as a beta program for current Steam users to see what they've been cooking up.

truckstop

It's been a while since we've seen a new installment of "Burnout", largely due to the fact its creators were ordered by EA to help revive their floundering "Need For Speed" franchise.

And once it was discovered that the studio behind everyone's crash and burn simulator had basically been disbanded, all hope for proper follow-up was dashed.

But there's always room for spiritual follow-ups. And that's where "Truck Stop" comes int.

With the exception of "Killer Instinct," the next generation is looking a little thin on the fighting game front. However, a Brazilian classification authority listing for "Injustice: Gods Among Us" indicates that a Game of the Year Edition of the Netherrealm-developed fighter will be headed to the Xbox One and PS4 as well as to the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Wii U.

It's been a little while since Ubisoft picked up "South Park: The Stick of Truth" in the midst of the dissolution of THQ. The RPG developed by "Fallout: New Vegas" studio Obsidian Entertainment has mostly gone radio silent as the publisher continued to tout a 2013 release date for the RPG.

For whatever reason, the game needed a protracted "analysis" phase by its new owners, but now we've finally got a 2013 release date: December 10th, 2013 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

David S Goyer is the guy who penned the script for "Man of Steel", which many people did not like. Though he also wrote the screenplay for "The Dark Knight Rises", which more people liked. Turns out, he also wrote a pair of video games, "Call of Duty: Black Ops" and its sequel.

Which is why, given how his resume includes both films and games, he might be somewhat qualified to comment on why video game movies are so awful. And his take on the matter actually make a whole lot of sense.

At the end of July, Microsoft announced some pretty significant changes to its publishing policies. With the new ID@Xbox program, indie developers will be able, in theory, to create, publish, and sell their games on the Xbox Live Marketplace with few restrictions.

The news was met with much joy and the popping of champagne corks (I'm assuming), but don't expect it to bear fruit any time soon -- the first ID@Xbox games probably won't be out until next year.
