There was a time when a lot of companies were trying to get on the kart-racing bandwagon. Everyone and everything, from Konami to The Smurfs, had their own racer; Sega even dabbled a bit, putting Sonic up against some of his friends in Sonic R, Sonic Drift, and Sonic Riders. Fast forward a few years and Sega finally got things right with Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, which brought together characters from Sega's rich history to go head-to-head in a light and accessible kart racing game on just about every platform imaginable. Luckily for fans of the original, a new sequel has been announced, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which takes the formula for the original, and expands on it by sending racers into the air, and onto the sea.

Platinum Games (Bayonetta, Vanquish) has released 11 minutes of new footage from their third-person brawler, Anarchy Reigns (Max Anarchy in Japan). Rather than spend a lot of time and money away from development to show off out of context highlights, they went renegade-style and simply filmed their staff playing a multiplayer round. The session shows off a four on four red vs blue team deathmatch. Platinum's previous MadWorld character's Jack and Leo make an appearance, though the recently announced playable Bayonetta is sadly nowhere to be seen.

From the footage it looks like you can select where to spawn (thank god!), summon mutants, and check out 6:12 for maximum awesomesauce. Is it just me, or does this look it could make a really cool X-Men game? It's got to be better than last year's X-Men Destiny at any rate.

Anarchy Reigns is due this July on Xbox 360 and PS3.
