When Pikmin was rereleased for the Wii over three years ago, we assumed its sequel wouldn't be far behind. We were wrong. While Japan and Europe received Captain Olimar's strategy/adventure with "New Play Control!" Nintendo's first port of a GameCube game to the Wii left me with mixed feelings. This is a case of pros and cons. Read More...

There have been happy reasons to be a Nintendo fan this week.

But there were also some unanswered questions after Nintendo of America's two-day summit in San Francisco this week.

Question: #1: Is the "Pikmin" title that Shigeru Miyamoto quietly announced at this year's E3 actually the GameCube "Wiimake"?

Answer: "No," said a Nintendo spokesperson to MTV Multiplayer today. "The 'Pikmin' that was just announced by [Nintendo of] Japan is not the same 'Pikmin.' There's a whole other game."

Question: #2: Will the United States see the newly announced GameCube games (i.e. "Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat") retooled for Wii?

Answer: "We don't have anything to announce on that yet," said the same spokesperson, choosing his words carefully. "But I think everything's on the table."

Sounds like "Pikmin 3" is alive and well and at least some of the Wii-makes will make their way over here. Which ones would you like to see?

I captured some animations to show how close fans are getting:
