Halo: Reach

"Halo: Reach" info and footage regarding jetpacks and assassinations came out last month, but Bungie was obviously holding a lot back in regards to their sweeping multiplayer additions for the game. Social and matchmaking features highlight the list of planned upgrades, including peer evaluation, social elements, Arena playlists and queue-joining.

Metro 2033
Review by Kyle Anderson

Don't be fooled by the somewhat generic-looking cover art for "Metro 2033." This is no cheap thrills shooter. In fact, it's impressively deep, refreshingly dark and seriously complicated. Also, it's hard. Really, really hard. Like "Ninja Gaiden" hard.

The Basics

In the not-too-distant-future, a vague apocalyptic event has turned the Earth into a wasteland but has especially destroyed Moscow (perhaps the events in "Dr. Strangelove" finally came to be). What was left of humanity was driven underground to live in subway tunnels. You play a character named Artyom, who isn't much of an ass-kicker but makes up for it with cunning and a reasonable control of a firearm. Can he successfully blend together FPS and RPG elements to fight off the horrible mutants living on the surface to save the last humans on Earth? Yeah, probably.

Sega

Sega decided to scale back on M-rated Wii releases earlier this year, but they have no problem looking ahead to casual games for the PlayStation Move and Project Natal. In fact, their first unveiling for Natal could happen as soon as E3 this summer, and the company already has a working prototype — even if they won't say what it is just yet.

South Park

Last night on "South Park," fans of EA Sports got an early glimpse of "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2011." Funny, when I saw this at GDC there was no mention of a spurned wife mini-game. According to Cartman, "EA Sports really outdid themselves this time!" You can check out the semi-NSFW clip after the break.

Super Street Fighter 4

Capcom said that they want to give something special to "Street Fighter 4" owners who buy "Super Street Fighter 4" this year, but they may have something in mind for their fighters as well. I don't know if these allegedly leaked themes that showed up on the Internet are for real, but they look like they will come bearing new clothes for most of the "SF4" crew.

Xbox 360 Slim

Last year, the PS3 Slim gutted the PlayStation 3 and made Sony's system a lot leaner. Now, Microsoft may be plotting a similar touch-up for the Xbox 360, assuming a leaked photo out of China turns out to be legit. Clearly, someone somewhere has created a motherboard that has a Microsoft marking on it, but whether or not the board shows the shape of things to come for the Project Natal era remains a mystery.

Battlefield Bad Company 2

In the weeks leading up to the release of "Modern Warfare 2," Activision and Infinity Ward released a promotional video featuring Phillies pitcher, Cole Hamels, and a pretty inappropriate slur. Activision reacted swiftly by taking the video down and apologizing, but the damage was done.

Seems that EA and DICE, makers of "Battlefield: Bad Company 2," aren't going to let such a gaffe go by without taking the opportunity to bash their competitor a little bit, so they released their own video starring Yankees pitcher, CC Sabathia. Both videos discourage the use of random grenade tossing, but EA's cleverly avoids offending large portions of the gaming community.

Blu-ray

Back when the HD DVD format died, some may have accused the Xbox 360 of losing the battle against the PlayStation 3's Blu-ray capabilities. Microsoft remains confident in public that they've won the war, though. Even if the system difference puts more pressure on the 360's hard drive and disc numbers for mega-games like "Final Fantasy XIII," at least one voice in the Xbox offices believes their market share has benefited directly from the strategy.

Gears of War 2

If "Gears of War 3" sits high on your wishlist this year, you're probably just going to have to settle for watching "The Hurt Locker" or checking out the character guest appearances in "Lost Planet 2," because rumors point toward a release sometime in 2011. Microsoft reportedly wants to avoid competing with itself toward the end of the year — or perhaps at all this year in Epic's case, since they don't have any games slated for 2010.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2011

Tiger Woods has announced that he'll be returning to professional golf in early April, just in time to compete at The Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia. His return brings to an end a five-month long break from golf after it was revealed that he had participated in extra-marital relations.

Woods released a statement about the announcement, saying, "The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect. After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I'm ready to start my season at Augusta."
