There been a flurry of activity in the past week on the "Final Fantasy" front. First, the "Final Fantasy XIII-2" registered, apparently for Square-Enix. Then just this morning, "Final Fantasy XIII-2" was formally announced for an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Japan, a direct sequel to last year's "Final Fantasy XIII." Mere hours later, an update on the PlayStation Blog confirmed the sequel, which will feature an "evolved" battle system from last year's game, and its PS3 release "next winter."

Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection

Even as Square Enix struggled to get "Final Fantasy XIV" into presentable shape this year, they marched ever onward exploring and releasing ported versions of older titles from the series. The "Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection" represents one of their latest efforts on that front, and the PlayStation Portable bundling of both "FFIV" and "FFIV: The After Years" now has a release date (in Japan at least) of March 24, 2011.

PSP phone

The fate of Sony's PlayStation Portable brand has mostly been a head-scratcher in 2010. More recently, images of a potential PSP phone showed up on Engadget, and though Sony isn't copping to anything specific, someone over at Sony Ericsson is will to fan the flames.

LittleBigPlanet spin-off

The "LittleBigPlanet 2" team has been putting in extra hours and months to get their game out since it was delayed into 2011. The series may have another iron in the fire, though, and the phantom project is called "Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves."

Whatever the game is, the Australian Government has classified it as appropriate for general audiences, according to the country's online Classification Database (via Siliconera). It would be somewhat of a shocker if Sony was prepping a game with "Moves" in the title that wasn't going to be PlayStation Move-oriented with its controls, so the PlayStation 3 is a good guess for now in terms of where this Sackboy venture will be showing up.
