Assassin's Creed 3

Today, in an earnings call, Ubisoft revealed that the next game in the "Assassin's Creed" series will feature an online multiplayer mode. This is a first in a series that has, until now, been a strictly solo experience.

If you haven't completed "Assassin's Creed 2," you may want to stop reading right here.

Army of Two: The 40th Day PSP

"Army Of Two: The 40th Day" hit the PS3 and PSP simultaneously this week, nearly two years after the original "Army of Two" impressed gamers with its blend of buddy-comedy fun and battlefield co-op action. In both platforms, your two-man team finds itself stuck in Shanghai, China, as another private security force takes over the city, blowing stuff up and generally ruining Salem and Rios' plans for a quick-and-easy contract. However, while the PSP version of the game follows a nearly identical story as its PS3 counterpart, that's where the similarities end.

Tetsuya Nomura patent

Between the "Kingdom Hearts" and "Final Fantasy" series, Square Enix designer Tetsuya Nomura has a lot of very visible accomplishments under his belt. He also has a few unrevealed projects, though, and a recent patent application may hold a few clues about what he has in store for 2010.

Duke Nukem

3D Realms may be a much smaller company than it was prior to the "Duke Nukem Forever" development team's departure last May, but laying off internal development manpower may not have killed off their flat-topped action hero. In fact, despite their current legal argument with publisher Take-Two over "DNF," 3D Realms is still predicting new Duke games in the near future.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Last week I gave my top 5 favorite games of 2009. These are specifically games that didn't make my list, but are still awesome and noteworthy.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker

Grand pappy Snake's next portable adventure, "Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker," is meant to be a full sequel to "Metal Gear Solid 3," with traditional "MGS"-style gameplay, unlike "Portable Ops." But don't take my word for it. Konami is releasing a demo for the game on PSN today, allowing folks to get a taste of the title on their PSPs before the release in 2010.

So yeah, go take a look. Just try to avoid those pesky time paradoxes.

The Declining Value Of Game Collecting

As new games get announced every week, most gamers rejoice when old school games from their youth are re-released on updated platforms so they can enjoy them all over again. However, there's one group that takes a deep breath as they read each and every game announcement, hoping not to see certain titles appear; classic games that they already own, and have invested in. This is the anxious life of a video game collector; a certain sect of gamers that value video games so much that they invest huge sums of money into amassing valuable games.

Everyone's seen the cast members of Hideo Kojima's next "Metal Gear" game for the PSP, and now the street date for "Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker" is public information as well. Japan still gets the earliest chance to play on March 18th, and the UK gets it May 28th, but U.S. gamers will get a three-day head start on May 25th.
