Publisher Atlus has announced the highly acclaimed PS2 role-playing game, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 is coming to the PS Vita this fall as Persona 4 Golden. This enhanced version will have remastered visuals and audio, including more voice-acting. Persona 4 Golden will also contain extra content like new events, personas, anime cutscenes (including a new intro with a new song from composer Shoji Meguro), a new character named Mary, and an "online dungeon rescue feature," where players can gain assistance from others when they're near death.

Looking back at the list of titles that graced 8-bit consoles (and PCs) in 1987, you find that's it's a veritable parade of first entries in what would in time go on to either greatly influence gaming or spawn literally dozens of sequels between them. This is the year that modern video gaming was born, as simple left-to-right platforming was starting to experience previously unseen variations and mutations, while the standard bearers of fighting games and RPGs experienced their genesis. A pair of older PSP titles have have been pulled from the PlayStation Network thanks to a potential vulnerability. Sony says it's simply to fix "stability iimprovement." Meanwhile, the unofficial line from a member of the homebrew community calling him or herself W. Ololo says that their team has found an exploit in both games that will simply allow them to play emulated games.

PlayStation Vita

In 2005 Sony attempted to do the unthinkable, take on Nintendo in the handheld market, with the PlayStation Portable. At that point in time, prior to the release of the Wii, it was the only place that Nintendo was still a powerhouse, having reigned supreme since the release of the original Game Boy in 1989. At the time, Sony was the clear leader in the console market, and was on the verge of announcing the PlayStation 3. The release of the PlayStation Portable came two years after it was announced at E3 in 2003, and was initially seen as a success, selling more than 60 million units worldwide, establishing Sony as a clear player in the handheld field. Now, seven years later, Sony is releasing the PSP's successor, the PlayStation Vita. The superior hardware in every way, the Vita is looking to bring console-quality games to the portable arena.
