Once again, a contentious feature of Microsoft's upcoming Xbox One has just been left to the wayside. Or in this case, things have been clarified a bit, so something's not quite as bad as once assumed.

MS had previously made it loud and clear that the new and improved Kinect is a part of the Xbox One, end of story. And it was assumed that, if one unplugged the motion sensing input device, as many wish they could, the console would not work.

Turns out, that's not quite the case.

The cream of the videogame crop has been hand-picked to battle for your entertainment in our all-out, no holds barred, slug-fest of the best trailers and videos from this year's E3! 32 characters from the hottest, freshest franchises will be judged by you, the fans, and there can only be one winner. Who gets an extra life and who gets unplugged is up to you!

It's that time of year again--E3 is just around the corner and all of the publishers and developers will be showing off the big new games for 2013, 2014, and beyond. And we want to know which characters from the new and returning franchises have you most excited heading into the new console generation.

The MTV Multiplayer team has scoured the games that are coming soon to PCs, consoles, and handhelds, picking out the illest, most dangerous, or strangest characters that we think you might want to see more of. Now all you have to do is vote for your favorites.

Take a look at the brackets: we've got all manner of assassins, both of the high seas and high style variety (Edward Kenway, "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag," Mondo Zappa, "Killer is Dead"), a monster hunter on what could be his final journey (Geralt, "The Witcher 3"), a pair of wasteland explorers trying to survive a deadly fungus (Joel and Ellie, "The Last of Us,"), and a DC villain with plans to end the Batman once and for all (Black Mask, "Batman: Arkham Origins").

Voting for the first round starts... now. Hit the image at the top of this post (or click right HERE) and decide who's heading to round two.

It was supposed to be a motion-controlled game that would bring emotion to motionless players, but now Gore Verbinksi's Blind Wink Productions' "Matter" moves no more. Joystiq reports that the Kinect title, originally planned for a summer 2013 launch, has been given the axe by Microsoft, the latest in the well-known cycle of major filmmakers dabbling games (see also: Spielberg, del Toro).

Even as we wait for the next iteration of Microsoft's motion-tracking hardware, Japanese clothing chain United Arrows is yet another source of an... unorthodox use of Kinect.

The scariest part of “Dead Space 3,” Visceral’s dark, sci-fi third-person-dismemberer, will be when the pricing for the game’s microtransactions are revealed.

Eurogamer spotted an in-game prompt in the game’s weapons-crafting system when the player doesn’t have enough resources to build the Necromorph-blasting machine they want. Scrap parts to build weapons can be picked up from the player or by scavenger bots, but they can also be purchased from an in-game store.

If you're not up to date on your extreme sports you might be wondering what exactly is Ice Cross Downhill? It's kind of a cross between a luge and roller derby, whereby a total sane and reasonable person straps on a pair of iceskates, plops on a helmet, and hurls down a man-made slide of solid ice. Apparently, it's been around for 10 years and last weekend Red Bull host their World Championship at Niagara Falls.

It actually looks quite thrilling and I'm sure in my more youthful days I would have been exstatic for an attempt. Fortunately, Bongfish, the development team behind "Stoked: Big Air Edition" and "Harm's Way" will save you and me a few broken bones with an arcadey version of the over-the-top sport with "Red Bull Crashed Ice Kinect".
