It was fun to see Rovio working with NASA to promote Angry Birds Space and it looks like they're trying to keep that going. Yesterday, Rovio revealed the latest episode/update to the game and considering how caught up everyone is with Curiosity lately, Mars seems like the perfect location for new levels. Read More...

Welcome to our new “App of the Week” column! We're going to kick things off with an app I discovered a little late, but was thankfully still able to pick up during the promotional free period. That app is Jaws Revenge, which for obvious reasons was available for free during Discovery Channel's Shark Week. Read More...

Not a whole lot of detail here beyond the release window next spring, but yeah, more Plants vs. Zombies is on the way from Popcap. The original was something of a marvel of efficiency when it came to getting players hooked with "just one more game" defense of your poor poor lawn; here's hoping Popcap's design strategy here is more... better.
The press release promises new zombies and plant types, but there's no news on which platforms we'll get to experience the new flora and walking dead fauna.* The first game hit pretty much everything with and without buttons when all was said and done.
We'll keep our eyes peeled for more info.
*Zillion dollar idea: Popcap partners with AMC/Image comics to bring zombie versions of The Walking Dead characters in as specialty zombies.

Disney passed along this teaser image for an upcoming Avengers game. No developer, although it could be from Disney Interactive, and no other details besides the angriest of hulks and shadowy Avengers. That's another curious point, why they would keep character whose appearances we already know in shadow.
While we wait for more details on the Avengers' mobile offering, the motion controlled Marvel Avengers Battle For Earth will be making its Wii U and 360 debut sometime later this year.

Though most smartphone games are designed to take advantage of touch screen controls, many gamers are constantly on the lookout for any way to add physical buttons to their mobile gaming. We've seen a few add-on controllers attempt this, but most have lacked the developer support needed to gain mass appeal. The team at Milkshake Labs is trying to change all that with the coco controller -- an iPhone/iPod accessory that adds physical buttons and a joystick to your mobile device for a price on par with just about any other case you'd find at the Apple Store.
The project just hit Kickstarter this morning, where Milkshake Labs are looking for financial backers to help them reach a funding goal of $175,000 and deliver the coco controller to the masses. Last week, we were lucky enough to chat with Milkshake Labs co-founder Colton Gyulay who shed light on how developer support and unique features will separate coco from the countless smartphone gaming controllers we've seen in the past. Head past the break for the full interview! Read More...
