If you own a Wii U there's something you need to do right now -- download "Balloon Fight." It's the game that inspired "Nintendo Land's" "Balloon Trip Breeze" and it's available for a mere 30 cents right now via the eShop. Double Fine's "The Cave" is also available for download now, and 3DS owners have a new "Brain Age: Concentration Training" demo and more to check out. Head past the break for details! Read More...

Fire Emblem: Awakening

You have to hand it to Nintendo, sometimes they can really laugh at themselves, and one simple line of text from the upcoming "Fire Emblem: Awakening" proves it.

Reggie Fils-Amie's now infamous meme from E3 2007 has officially made its way into a Nintendo game. Check out the above screenshot from "Awakening,"in it Frederick, the noble servant and personal bodyguard of Chrom, clearly states that "my body is ready" while conversing with the player's character. Unlike Reggie's declaration, Frederick is ready to taste some bear meat instead of step on the Wii Balance Board. The line comes as part of the game's support conversation system, an option where members of your party can converse with each other to strengthen their personal bonds, which translate to better teamwork on the battlefield.

When "Project X Zone" came out in Japan last year, it seemed like the fighting game/strategy hybrid would be too nuts/too difficult to localize for other territories. But it seems like SEGA, Nacmo Bandai, and Capcom are banking on Western fans embracing the 3DS release, giving it the full support of localization for European and Latin American territories as well as the U.S.

Featuring 25 games and 200 characters across the three companies' catalogs, in a sprawling mashup that will probably be fun in spite of making little to no sense (or maybe for just that very reason).

Namco Bandai published the game in Japan, but it's not clear who'll be handling publishing duties here in the U.S.

Tokyo Crash Mobs

If you've ever sat around thinking "I wish "Zuma" was weirder," well Nintendo sure has a surprise for you. Building on the core mechanics of the action/puzzle games like "Magnetica" and the aforementioned "Zuma", "Tokyo Crash Mobs" takes clearing out a snaking line of oncoming colors to a whole new level. Developed by the Mitchell Corporation, this new take on the advancing color, action-puzzle genre comes from the developer that came up with the original concept way back in 1998 with "Puzz Loop."

By Joseph Leray

Nintendo kindly released a handy -- and awkwardly narrated -- introduction to some of “Fire Emblem: Awakening”’s more nuanced mechanics: support and “pair up.”

Both mechanics depend on smart troop placement to increase individual units effectiveness in battle, adding a unique spin on “Fire Emblem”’s tactical RPG formula. The video does a really good job of explaining complex tactics in simple language, and -- if I’m understanding correctly -- players could conceivably set up four-on-one encounters.
