In the the elevator bank at MTV's headquarters in Times Square, there's always some sort of advertisement for an MTV-related program.
But we didn't expect to see a video game tie-in like this. Do you think our colleagues were inspired by a certain Nintendo game or perhaps it was just a pure coincidence?
Take a look at the larger picture and decide for yourself. Read more...
The next edition of Microsoft's "Scene It!" trivia series for Xbox 360, "Box Office Smash" drops on October 28 and has one very unique section that combines games and movies trivia in a way we've never seen before.
As seen on MTV's TRL earlier today, we have your first look at "Scene It!"'s brand-new twist on movie trivia. Players are presented with a famous movie scene shown in old-school, pixel-based visuals and have to guess what it's from.
Can you guess which ones are featured in the video above?!

Around these parts, we blog about video games. MTV Movies Blog blogs about "Twilight" (and, occasionally, other movies.) MTV Newsroom blogs about mostly music news. All good and well, but who is blogging about comic books around here?
As of today, some of our colleagues are doing just that, launching the spiffy-looking Splash Page blog which will focus on the crossovers between comics and movies (Check out the cool Watchmen and Batman posts already up there).
With the Splash Page team arriving at the San Diego Comic-Con today, I know they're going to have a ton to post about. Do give it a look and let the team there know what you think. Want more "Dark Knight" news? (Of course!) Demanding a weekly Grant Morrison interview? (Not happening! Boo!) Wondering if they have any scoop on the "Plastic Man" movie? (They do.)
If they're lucky, I'll write them a post about the great old Jimmy Olsen comics. Only if they're lucky.
So please bookmark, RSS, or tattoo this URL to your favorite body part: splashpage.mtv.com
For this special occasion, we bring you summer Multiplayer intern Ren-An Lo.
Party hats on, people! It's Multiplayer's 2,000th post!
On top of that, this is my very first post.
My name is Ren-An Lo, but call me Rey (short, simple, easy, and no confusion). Since I'm the brand new intern for MTV Multiplayer, the MP team asked me to write the landmark post for the blog. A little about me: I'm a Journalism student at Rutgers and my favorite games of all time are the "FIFA" titles.
But anyway, let's get back to what’s at hand.
Multiplayer has been bringing you in-depth interviews and coverage on games and games culture for a little over two years now. In the 2,000th post, we decided to dig deep into our vault of blog entries and show you some milestones from memory lane.
Here are some landmark posts: Read more...
Lauren Bernat, the "Wii Fit" hula girl, has been seen doing the hula in her underwear nearly 4 million times on YouTube since May 25. Yesterday afternoon, she came to MTV's headquarters in New York all the way from Miami, Florida with her mischievous boyfriend Giovanny Gutierrez to appear on TRL.
Check out a short clip and photos of Bernat in action during the show. And sorry, fellas -- she kept her pants on. [UPDATE: Read the extended interview with "Wii Fit girl" here.]

People have watched Florida's Lauren Bernat do the "Wii Fit" hula in her underwear more than 2.7 million times since May 25. That's when her boyfriend uploaded a clip he says he secretly filmed.
Who knew so many people needed such extra insight to decide whether "Wii Fit" was for them?
Bernat's path to stardom is next taking her to TRL. The world's favorite "Wii Fit girl" will appear on the show Tuesday at 3 p.m. Eastern/Pacific to talk about her video and, of course, to demo the Wii live.
This one is for all you "Hills" fans out there in our MTV neck of the woods. Seriously.
And it's for those of you who still need to find a way to combine Valentine's Day with valid video gaming activities.
Worlds are colliding, as EA is teaming up with "Hollywood's most talked about reality couple" (otherwise known as Heidi and Spencer from MTV's own The Hills) for a little pre-Valentine's Day gaming in paradise … "Burnout Paradise" that is. Watch out for that Spencer… I hear he's a maniac at "Centipede."
If you're interested in spending your night with the couple from The Hills (and some other surprise celebrity guests) read on to find out whom you should send your friend request to. For everyone else, tomorrow night also offers you the chance to crash their favorite ride into "Burnout Paradise"'s producer, Craig Sullivan.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like another famous MTV couple Totilo and N'Gai weren't asked to partake in the event. Maybe next time.

It is a common belief in the games industry and may other industries that one of the best ways to hype up anticipation of your forthcoming product is to give people a clock to stare at.
This has happened before.
As the countdown clock ticks backwards, your future consumers, sit, and wait, hungry for information. Each second they stare at the clock is a second of wasted existence. Their expectations of what to expect when the clock hits zero build, elevating their hopes that eventually lead to utter letdown. I believe that 99.9% of the time the payoff just isn't quite worth the build-up.
It is because of this inevitable suffering that I offer up a list of some of this year's useless time wasters ever conceived to market video games, the 2007 countdown clocks.

(UPDATED: We added video from the UNLV tour stop. 9/21/07 5:23 PM EST)
The VMAs weren’t all about Britney.
That same weekend MTV and EA, the companies behind "Rock Band," announced a cross-country tour for the game. The latest marketing ploy, which started right then and there in Las Vegas, upped the ante in the "Guitar Hero III" versus "Rock Band" rivalry.
We invited fellow blogger Tamar (a self-professed "video game virgin") from MTV's Buzzworthy to give her impressions of the game. After all, she hadn't played "Rock Band" yet (we have, and we're so jaded, right?). She tested it out alongside a slew of bands in town for the awards show, including pop-punk band Boys Like Girls -- pictured here -- who were seen playing Weezer's "Say It Ain’t So." Take it away, Tamar...
