While it will most definitely end up being a huge week for announcements, there has only been one rhythm game, so far, with a substantial list of songs confirmed that was added to the Rhythm Game Track Finder. Earlier today, "Rock Band 2" confirmed their full track listing, and all 83 songs that will be appearing on the disc have made their way into the Track Finder. Artists like AC/DC, and Bob Dylan will be making their console rhythm game debut, alongside a premiere track off of the long awaited "Chinese Democracy" from Guns 'N Roses.

"Rock Band 2" may be the only game that was added to the Track Finder, but there was other rhythm game news that was drummed up earlier today at the Microsoft press conference. Red Octane announced that "Guitar Hero World Tour" will see a partnership the ultimate rockers, Metallica, for content exclusive to their game. Also, Microsoft officially announced "Lips" for the Xbox 360, an innovative new karaoke game from iNiS that will allow you to import your own songs and sing along with them. There's no doubt that the Track Finder will see updates for both these titles in the coming weeks, so check back often.

In keeping with tradition, today's update is below:

Rock Band 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii) 83 Songs Added

There have been a lot of rumors flying around this week about the track listing for "Rock Band 2," however, since there haven't been any tracks on the disc confirmed yet, none of those tracks were added to the Rhythm Game Track Finder. I think there's a pretty good chance E3 is going to bring some updates for not only "RB2," but a host of other rhythm games that are in the works.

However, "Rock Band 2" did receive a bit of an update, courtesy of the 16 downloadable tracks that were announced for "Rock Band." Out of those 16 tracks, 12 of them were by one of the greatest rock bands of all time, The Who. "Pinball Wizard" may be missing, but other classics like "My Generation," "Behind Blue Eyes," and "Baba O'Riley" are all available for download.

"Rock Band" wasn't the only game to receive an update this week, "Guitar Hero 3" also released two additional, free tracks for download. "I Am Murloc" was released by Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain to coincide with the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational last week, and in honor of the 4th of July holiday you can download the "Top Gun Theme."

The full list of updates is below:

Guitar Hero III (Xbox 360, PS3) 2 Songs (Steve Stevens' "Top Gun Anthem," and Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain's "I Am Murloc")
Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) 16 Songs (Rush's "Closer To The Heart," and "Working Man (Vault Edition)" Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Snow ((Hey Oh))," and "Tell Me Baby" The Who's "Amazing Journey," "Baba O'Riley," "Behind Blue Eyes," "Eminence Front," "Going Mobile," "Leaving Here," "My Generation (Live at Leeds)," "Real Good Looking Boy," "Sea & Sand," "Summertime Blues (Live at Leeds)," "Who Are You," and "Young Man Blues (Live at Leeds)")
Rock Band 2 (Xbox 360, PS3) 16 Songs (See above)

With the announcement of "Rock Band 2" earlier this morning, the Rhythm Game Track Finder saw a huge update. Even though no songs were announced for the game, 157 songs were added to the "RB2" entry in the Track Finder, all downloadable content for "Rock Band." These included the four tracks that were added to "Rock Band."

In addition to the "Rock Band" updates, a new game was added, "Rock Revolution" from Konami. The game will be released later this year with 40 tracks, this week we added 14 of them to the track finder.

The full list of updates is below:
Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) 4 Songs Added (Motley Crue's "Down At The Wiskey," Trapt's "Who's Going Home With You Tonight?," Papa Roach's "Time Is Running Out," and a free track from Vesuvius' "Promised Land")
Rock Band 2 (Xbox 360, PS3) 157 Songs Added
Rock Revolution (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS) 14 Songs Added

This week's Rhythm Game Track Finder update is proof that two of the biggest, most rocking, rhythm game franchises just keep getting bigger.

"Rock Band" added three Weezer tracks that will be releasing later this week alongside the Pixes' Doolittle album. The new Weezer tracks are from their latest album, which means Weezer now has tracks availible that span their almost fifteen year history.

On the other end of the rock spectrum "Guitar Hero"'s latest game was released, and we completed the track listing for "On Tour" by adding in the last nine songs. The Track Finder was also rounded out the track listing for the upcoming "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith," with the additional of the last 13 tracks.

This week's updates are summed up below:
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii) 13 Songs Added
Guitar Hero: On Tour (NDS) 9 Songs Added
Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) 3 Songs Added (Weezer's " Dreamin’," " The Greatest Man That Ever Lived," " Troublemaker")

This week's Rhythm Game Track Finder update added one of the biggest bands in the world, Coldplay, to "Guitar Hero 3," and four new tracks to "Rock Band."

Both of these games been on the market for over six months, and have continually released downloadable track packs, increasing the number of songs playable in each game. It makes you wonder when they are ever going to stop developing songs for these games, and when they are going start focusing on songs for their sequels.

The full list of updates is below:
Guitar Hero 3 (Xbox 360, PS3) 3 Songs Added (Coldplay's "Violet Hill," "Yellow," and "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face")
Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) 4 Songs Added (Avenged Sevenfold's "Afterlife" and "Critical Acclaim," The Offspring's "Hammerhead" and Crooked X's "Rock 'n' Roll Dream")

It has taken quite a few months, but "Rock Band" has finally been dethroned, and it no longer rules supreme over the Rhythm Game Track Finder.

With the release of "SingStar" for the PS3 in the U.S., along with a massive list of downloadable songs, Sony's karaoke game is now the most populated title in our rhythm game database. With a total of 389 songs total, it has 185 more songs available for it than "Rock Band," which, with this week's addition of four songs now has 204.

"SingStar" and "Rock Band" weren't the only titles this week to receive an update, a couple "Guitar Hero" games beefed up their track listings as well. Last week, nine more songs were announced for "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith," as well as six downloadable songs for "Guitar Hero 3," all of which were added to their respective titles.

The full list of last week's additions is below:

Guitar Hero 3 (Xbox 360 PS3) 6 Songs Added
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, Wii) 9 Songs Added
Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) 4 Songs Added (The Material's "Moving to Seattle," The Myriad's "A Clean Shot," Them Terribles's "Bullets & Guns" and Maxïmo Park's "Girls Who Play Guitars")
SingStar (PS3) 359 Songs Added

In what may be the most unique pairing of artists ever, "Rock Band" will receive two track packs later this week from Jimmy Buffett and Disturbed. I can't help imaging the insanity that would ensue if they went on tour with each other one summer.

With the addition of the six tracks (three from each artist) "Rock Band" now has an even 200 songs announced for it, undoubtedly with more on the way. If you like rock music, and you are still having trouble finding something you like, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before there's something you'll be itching to play. If you need proof, just ask a Parrothead.

Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) 6 Songs Added (Jimmy Buffet's "Margaritaville," "Cheeseburger In Paradise," and "Volcano" and Disturbed's "Indestructible," "Inside The Fire" and "Perfect Insanity.")

Last week was a big week for Rhythm Games. Konami announced four new titles (three DDRs, and "Rock Revolution"), all of which will make their way into the Rhythm Game Track Finder, but not just yet. While it may have been a big week for game announcements, only the games themselves were announced. The tracks were not, so we don't have anything to add just yet. Keep checking the Track Finder for the latest updates as soon as the songs are announced.

We did update two games with the downloadable content that was released last week. "Rock Band" and "Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore" both saw pay-for-play content available on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. Check out the full list of tracks below.

Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore (PS3, Xbox 360) 21 Songs Added
Rock Band (PS3, Xbox 360) 6 Songs Added (Blur's "Beetlebum," Die Toten Hosen's "Hier Kommt Alex," H-BlockX's "Countdown To Insanity," Juli's "Perfekte Welle," Pleymo's "New Wave," Tokio Hotel's "Monsoon," Muse's "Hysteria," Oasis' "Rock N Roll Star," and Les Wampas'"Manu Chao")

unison.jpgAs each week passes, the MTV Rhythm Game Track Finder becomes a more complete database for searching rhythm game music.

In fact, we are almost at a point where there are no additional older games to add, aside from a few miscellaneous "DDR" titles. We've searched GameSpot, IGN, AllGameGuide, and even Wikipedia, but out list gets shorter and shorter each week. If there are any glaring omissions, please let us know so we can get those games added right away.

This week's updates includes one of our last archival additions, Tecmo's "UNiSON: Rebels of Rhythm & Dance," our weekly "Rock Band" update, as well as the remainder of the "Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore" downloadable content for both the Xbox 360 and PS3.

"UNiSON" was a bit of a surprise; we didn't even know it existed until we stumbled upon it in Wikipedia last week. Once we saw it, we made sure to add the full U.S. release song list to our database. It appears to be one of the most story-based rhythm games on this list, but it also has one of the smallest track listings as well. It tops out at only 12 songs. but one of them is the classic "O.P.P." by Naughty By Nature, so it's okay.

The full update is below:
Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore (Xbox 360, PS3) 40 Songs Added
Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) 3 Songs Added (Blondie's "Hanging On The Telephone," Sonic Youth's "Kool Thing," and The Clash's "Train In Vain")
UNiSON: Rebels of Rhythm & Dance (PS2) 12 Songs Added

chipmunks.jpgThis week's Rhythm Game Track Finder update focuses on three of the biggest names in music video games "Rock Band," "Guitar Hero" and "Alvin and The Chipmunks."

Right about now, you may be wondering just how "Alvin" made it onto that list. While "Alvin and The Chipmunks" may not have been the most critically acclaimed game of last year, it does boast one of the most diverse and well-rounded soundtracks in quite some time. Granted, all songs were performed as covers by The Chipmunks, but, if you check out a few of the previews at the game's official site, you'll see just how amusing The Ramones and Run D.M.C. sound performed at such a high pitch.

In addition to "The Chipmunks" both "Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero 3" saw three song updates in the form of downloadable track packs. However, it was announced today that "Rock Band" owners who have a PS2 or Wii will be able to purchase twenty song track backs to supplement the Xbox and PS3's downloadable content. The "Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1" disks will be available on July 15. Also added were the first 15 (of 25) confirmed tracks for "Guitar Hero: On Tour."

Check out the full list of updates:
Alvin and The Chipmunks (Wii, PS2) 40 Songs Added
Guitar Hero 3 (Xbox 360, PS3) 3 Songs Added (Muse's "'Exo-Politics," "Stockholm Syndrome," and "Supermassive Black Hole")
Guitar Hero: On Tour (DS) 15 Songs Added
Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) 3 Songs Added (Angels & Airwave's "It Hurts," Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Date With The Night," and Fall Out Boy's "This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race")
Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1 (Wii, PS2) 20 Songs Added
