I got to play two of Gameloft's DSi offerings, "American Pop Star: Road to Celebrity" and "Real Soccer 2009." The thing I wanted to know most was how these two DSi versions of existing games make use of the DSi functionality. I was told that "American Pop Star" lets players take their own photos with the DSi camera that will appear throughout the game, like on magazine covers (pictured). Meanwhile "Real Soccer 2009" takes the DSi photos and can display them on the soccer ball, the giant stadium screen, a team flag or as a player's face. It seems that a lot of DSi titles will let players take photos that appear in the game, but it'd be nice to see more innovative ways of integrating the DSi camera function.

In his mobile phone game, that is. While in GameLoft's pimped-out hummer during E3, I got to play the new Chuck Norris mobile phone game called "Chuck Norris: Bring The Pain."
Made in conjunction with cult website ChuckNorrisFacts.com and the Texas Ranger himself, the game includes loading screens that give such great Chuck-isms as "On Chuck Norris' phone, there are no loading times" or "Chuck Norris makes onions cry."
As for the story, the game is a classic beat-em-up that revolves around the martial arts hero rescuing hostages and saving America from the invading Communist threat. I played the first level where the rogue Soviet army was holding POWs hostage in Cambodia, using the 2, 6 and 8 buttons to navigate as well as 5 to fire Chuck's weapon at enemies.
And who are said enemies? Me! Read more...

When I was in Paris, France last month, Blizzard titles weren't the only games I saw.
I also had the opportunity to stop by Gameloft's headquarters (see photos here) to check out some new projects they were working on.
In addition to creating games for mobile handsets, the DS, PSP, iPod and WiiWare, the mobile game publisher has been busy working on iPhone games. With the release of the brand-new iPhone 3G tomorrow, consumers can also get a slew of applications available from the new App Store which launched a day early today.
Sitting on Gameloft's comfy couch in the reception area, I had hands-on time with eight iPhone games in a row, each product manager showing me their title (think Speed Dating but with iPhones). From brand new games to unique spins (literally) on old classics, I played all six of Gameloft's offerings that are available today, as well as two titles that will be out later this summer.
Read on to see which games you need to get for your shiny new device -- from the perspective of someone who was severely jetlagged and has never owned an iPhone.

While I was in Paris for the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational, I stopped by Gameloft's headquarters to see what they were up to.
It turned out that the mobile game makers are quite busy. I can't talk about what they're working on until sometime in the near future, but I did get a nice tour of the office.
Check out photos of where the 100+ employees toil hard to put out games (as well as the countless phones, cables and chargers they have to deal with).
And to Gameloft: Merci de votre hospitalité!
