Did you sign up for Modern Warfare 3's premium service on the PS3 and Xbox 360 at launch? If so, you could be looking at an additional three months--through March, to be exact--as a mea culpa for early service outages for Call of Duty Elite.

The service offers stats across games while providing early, free access to Modern Warfare 3's DLC, including new maps and multiplayer hoppers.

In an e-mail sent out to gamers who subscribed to the service day one, Activison and Infinity Ward promised to keep the lights on for Elite through March 1st, 2013. With that in mind, as they "extend access" Activision warned of a brief service interruption between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM PST today.

"Savages" might be a rough choice of words for a bunch of island inhabitants, but let's look past that. In this new story trailer for December's Far Cry 3, Ubisoft gives us a rundown on the story of unfortunate island vacationer Jason Brody whose trip to the Rook Islands ends up being less fun in the sun and more "kidnapped and tortured by pirates."

Destructoid posted an image and character details for the new addition to Dead Island: Riptide, John Morgan.

According to the details of the piece, Morgan is a Navy man-turned-chef with awesome killing power. if you ask me, he's taking a queue from one Mr. Steven Segal's most beloved roles, Casey Ryback in the 1992 gem, Under Siege. Why we didn't just get Segal in the game with Gary Busey joining as a crazed zombie, we'll never know, but you can check out an embiggened image of Mr. Morgan after the jump.

April 23rd, to be precise, or about a year and a half after the release of Dead Island proper. The sequel sees the four survivors the outbreak from the first game making their way to safety on a military ship, only for that pernicious virus to infect the crew, and generally making the whole island vacation a total wash.

Developer Deep Silver has added a fifth character to the group with new skills, and they're promising new multiplayer communication features as well as "hub defense missions" (which sound a lot like an additional survival mode).

From the Snatch and Lock, Stock, And Two Smoking Barrels director comes this live-action trailer for November 13ths Call of Duty: Black Ops Ii. Ritchie's even brought along with his Sherlock Holmes star Robert Downey Jr. for a brief cameo (although I suppose you could call every appearance here a "cameo" given their brevity) for this "Surprise" ad.

And you know what? The overall joke is kind of funny, a slight reprise on the previous Call of Duty live action trailers under the "There's a soldier in all of us" theme they've been running with for the modern-ish entries in the series. "Modern-ish" here because as you know, Black Ops II's whole deal is its near-future weaponry and setting--some of which gets play here in the trailer.

So what do you think? Fun? Funny? A rehash of the old ads?

Composer Jack Wall has a slew of credits to his name in game music, going all the way back to the PC classic Myst. Since then, he's worked with BioWare on the Mass Effect franchise, Ubisoft with Splinter Cell and picked up both BAFTA and Spike TV nominations for his work on Mass Effect 2. His next big gig: Treyarch's Black Ops II, which hits on November 13th from Activision.

Wall and I spoke (well, by e-mail) about his work on the near future shooter, about getting the sound just right, and composing in the legendary Abbey Road studios. You can also check out some of his previous work on his site.
