SpongeBob SquarePants: Drawn To LifeLast week we broke the news that the next "Drawn To Life" game from THQ will be set in the SpongeBob SquarePants universe (ocean?).

Today we bring you the first screenshots of the DS game (click to enlarge them).

And we have an interview too, in case you want to know what THQ's plans are for this game, how "SpongeBob SquarePants Drawn To Life" relates to the first "DTL," why erasers are the enemy, and what this "SpongeBob" title means about the publisher's commitment to original content.

SpongeBob SquarePants Drawn To LifeThis is what happens when you write an article lamenting the lack of drawing-based games on the Nintendo DS.

Games publisher THQ comes calling and asks if you'd like to announce the next major drawing-based DS game -- "SpongeBob SquarePants: Drawn To Life."

The "SpongeBob" spin-off is being developed by a studio called Altron, developers of many games I've never played -- so, sorry, I can't say if they can match 5th Cell's level of quality.

What I can say is that the game allows players to create their own character (as did the first "DTL"), lets you draw and erase enemies, illustrate checkpoints and furnish a Bikini Bottom home. The game's villain is DoodleBob, who I'm told is part of SpongeBob canon and who seems perfect for a drawing-based game.
