At last week's New York Comic-Con, dozens of cosplayers gathered to try for the Guinness World Record of "Largest Gathering of Videogame Characters." Click the image above for a series of close-up looks. Can you name them all?

Video games had a larger presence at New York Comic Con this year, and it was also evidenced by the number of attendees who showed up as their favorite video game characters. Take a look.

The headline is slightly misleading. Technically, Comic-Con 2008 is on its fourth day -- but I didn't get a chance to share the great cosplay photos from the floor yesterday. Instead of hoarding them until next week, I've spent a little bit of my Sunday gathering some of the better ones for a final cosplay post. Oh, and I think we can all agree the one above is the best one I've taken so far. Classic!

As always, keep checking our Flickr account for more pictures (in high-res, too). I'll be uploading more throughout the weekend, whenever I get a chance.

Tallest man. Heaviest twins. Person with the longest, curliest finger nails. Those are the Guinness Book of World Records my friends and I were fascinated by in middle school.

But that was years before the publication of the new "Guinness World Record Gamer's Edition 2008," which has records that are allegedly more relevant to me. Allegedly. To celebrate the launch of the book, the Guinness people bore witness yesterday morning to the Largest Gathering of Games Characters. The gathering occurred on the Millennium Bridge in London.

Eighty cos-players attended. A new world record, as witnessed by the record-keepers at Guinness, who provided some photographic proof.

Look below for the big group shot. Can you name all the costumes on display?
