Yesterday's teaser trailer for the game we all thought was going to be called "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" labeled Infinity Ward's next project simply as "Modern Warfare 2." It's not yet clear whether that's the sign of a brand split or if it is simply a way to remind trailer watchers that this game is from the people who made 2007's "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" and not 2008's "Call of Duty: World at War." I will at least bet that the game won't be called: "Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2." Let us know where you stand on this.

According to playing time stats provided by Nintendo and tracked by MTV Multiplayer, Activision's "Call of Duty: World at War," the first in the series released for Wii, saw a massive spike in playing time last month. Credit the online multiplayer?

NPD Group numbers are in for January 2009, and while the overall narrative remains the same -- Nintendo leading the charge, with "Wii Fit" selling 777,000 copies -- there were signs of growth for everyone, as the industry saw 1.33 billion in sales, up from 1.18 billion in 2008. Read more...

Activision Blizzard publishing CEO Mike Griffith promised more than twice as many Activision-branded music games in 2009 in today's earnings call, while also revealing their next "James Bond" title has been moved into next year, and Blizzard declared an intention to release a game this year.
