At San Diego Comic Con, Ubisoft announced the latest in their line of "Assassin's Creed" comics, Assassin’s Creed: Brahman.

The graphic novel is set to debut later this fall and will introduce a brand new member of the Assassin Order; Arbaaz Mir. His backdrop is 19th century India, another first for the franchise, though his target once again is those pesky British colonialists.

In a conference call for Ubisoft investors this morning, CEO Yves Guillemot dropped some sales figures for “Assassin’s Creed III” and it’s Vita counterpart, “Assassin’s Creed: Liberation.” The blockbuster franchise shipped 12 million physical and digital units, smashing the company’s projections. “Liberation” was no slouch either -- the Paris-based publisher shipped almost 600,000 copies the PlayStation Vita exclusive.

Updates to the Xbox Live and PlayStation Network online storefronts for Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed III shed some light on the game's microtransactions.

That Assassin's Creed III would use microtransactions isn't particularly surprising news. WorthPlaying -- who broke today's story -- remind us that, during an investor conference call last month, Ubisoft chief financial officer Alain Martinez said, "In the future ... we could see more opportunity for $60 games to learn from the free-to-play model. The next generation will offer more and more item-based content."

"This will benefit our games' profitability," he continued.

If there’s one thing about Assassin’s Creed it’s this, the whole of history is open to adventure. It’s a brilliant idea because everywhere and every when can be mined. The critically acclaimed series has gone from Jerusalem to Rome to Constantinople. Ubisoft has brought the series a few hundred years further with the American Revolution as the backdrop. I’m not the first to say that I’m very much looking forward to the next numerical entry, especially having felt Ezio had pretty much run his course. We have a whole new protagonist with Connor and this time a fierce new world hangs in the balance as talk of war comes to a boiling point. It sounds really exciting, so I jumped at the chance when offered to hang out in Boston for a couple of days stalking and stabbing in Assassin’s Creed 3!
