AngryBirds_StarWars2_Keyart_Tentative_05_1024x576

"Angry Birds," the poster child for right time and right place, conquered the small screen space a few years back with simple gameplay and cute characters at a perfect price. While it quickly invaded everyone's smart phone and was fun to play in short bursts, it was a pretty shallow game yet rewarding when you finally nailed a 3 star rating. Basically it was the Tetris analogue for your internet phone's Game Boy (thanks, Matt, for that little bit of plagiarism inspiration :-) ). Everyone installed and quickly became addicted to slinging birds at evil pigs.

As with anything that becomes larger than itself, eventually an opportunity for cross-branding emerges. Enter 'Angry Birds Star Wars,' a clever rebranded spin-off transforming the classic sci-fi/fantasy heroes and villains into their avian and porcine doppelgängers. It was a fun offshoot for fans of both IPs to take a bathroom break and play a few rounds of physics based puzzle solving. Of course, anything Star Wars can't only have one episode, so Rovio obliged to create a second venture.

Fortunately, "Angry birds Star Wars II" is much, much better than it's movie counterpart.

Batman Arkham Origins_Sept 18_2

Not too long ago I was invited to check out some of the Warner Brothers' newest on the Dark Knight and was left feeling with a warm, tingly feeling that has me even more pumped than before. While many might have grimaced with Rocksteady's departure from the series they created (I'm just as guilty here folks) rest assured that Batman is indeed in good hands and "Origins" is shaping up to be a another knockout for the seasoned franchise.

First a little background. "Origins" takes our cowled friend all the way back to his budding vigilantism. He's proved himself as a protector of the night but is still an outlier with the Gotham PD. Entering his second year on the scene, Bats has time and time and again been able to conquer the means streets while simultaneously skirting the law. Yet, he's never had to deal with anyone bigger than the common thief with the occasional drug lord to take out.

It all changes on this fateful night.

It's official. "GTA" fever is in full effect and we're not any less immune. My Rockstar contacts told me that the only known cure is actually playing "Grand Theft Auto V." While, I'm doubtful of their medical licenses I can't see anything wrong with the recommended prescription. So with that, we'd be delighted if you joined us midnight,12 PM EST/9PM PST, tonight for our live-stream on Twitch.tv! Also, we'll solicit questions, requests, and be chatting at the hashtag #GTAGeek. Check it you after the jump!

Hey! Are you one of the hundreds of thousands of white-knuckled GTA fans biting their nails in anticipation for tomorrow's launch of Rockstar's next big thing in their flagship Grand Theft Auto series? Yes? Then you're probably already dead set on a purchase and probably don't need any more convincing. It's grand time full of debauchery, chaotic chases, and maniacal mayhem and is definitely well worth the inevitable "sick day" you'll call in to get out of work for a full day of GTA this Tuesday. Likewise, gamers that have never loved these titles can rest assured that the fifth numbered entry is more of the same - albeit prettier and a bit more refined.

Once again returning to the fake-Californian city of Los Santos, gently nestled between the immense Pacific Ocean and imposing Rockies, is a city littered with opportunity - especially for those willing to grab it by any means necessary. The bright lights and sandy beaches invite all manner of people from yuppies, hippies, criminals, wanna-be starlets, and sociopaths alike. It's never a dull moment in LS and its surrounding county is ripe for the taking for the fiduciary felonious fellow.

For those others who are wavering between play or don't or who may never have played a GTA before read on for my full review of "Grand Theft Auto V."

disney-infinity-toy-box-mode

"Disney Infinity" is probably the last Disney video game we'll ever need. Really, the folks at Disney Interactive absolutely nailed what the Magic Kingdom, as a whole, is all about -- imagination, wonder, and fun. Though it skews young, between 6 to maybe 12 year-olds,  "Infinity" gives players every tool they'll need to play make believe with some of the most beloved characters in Disney's roster. That said, if you're a parent or a Disney fanatic, prepare to feel it in the wallet.
