Nintendo had already revealed that players wouldn't be controlling series regular Olimar in the upcoming "Pikmin 3" for Wii U. Instead, according details announced during this morning's Nintendo Direct, players will be managing a total of three different characters, all at the same time.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo is one of gaming's biggest events of the year, but a lot of gamers don't have the opportunity to attend. To give fans a taste of the action, Nintendo has announced a partnership with Best Buy, essentially bringing Nintendo's E3 booth right to your local store.
In addition to revealing "Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games," Nintendo and Sega announced a "worldwide partnership" on Sonic the Hedgehog games this morning, with the first title – "Sonic Lost World" – coming exclusively to Wii U and 3DS.
Nintendo has finally revealed a release date for the upcoming "New Super Luigi U," but the bigger surprises were the reveal of a new playable character coming to the DLC pack, along with a standalone retail version that will be available shortly after the eShop version.
Ready for more info on upcoming Wii U and 3DS games? Of course you are! And Nintendo is going to deliver just that tomorrow morning, during yet another Nintendo Direct presentation.
The show kicks off tomorrow, May 17th, at 7am PT / 10am ET at Nintendo.com. We won't know what exactly Nintendo has in store for us until the broadcast begins, but fans can expect updates on Wii U and 3DS games coming this summer. As for titles a little further down the green pipe, Nintendo says they'll be holding another Nintendo Direct "before the start of E3 2013."

Indie developer Coffee Stain Studios today released "Sanctum 2" for PC and Xbox 360. The follow-up to the team's first tower-defense, first-person shooter hybrid sees players taking on the role of an elite soldier whose been tasked with protecting oxygen-producing cores from hordes of alien attackers. Nvidia has revealed that Project Shield is dropping the "project" from it's name. Simply known as Shield from here on out, the Tegra 4-powered Android gaming unit is now available for pre-order to those who signed up on Nvidia's official page. The rest of the world can place a pre-order on May 20th in preparation for a June 20th release.
