The lure of nostalgia is still strong with the latest trailer for "DuckTales Remastered," which made its way to the Xbox 360 last week.
Visually, "DuckTales Remastered" is a lovely game, but locked in the very old-school mechanics of the NES-era original, it doesn't offer much for the modern platforming crowd. Still, check out those visuals, which take the spotlight in this latest trailer.
Developed by Wayforward Technologies, who were also responsible for last year's "Double Dragon Neon," "Remastered" brings completely redrawn visuals and updated music to the NES side-scroller. From my review:
[Wayforward] made an attempt here to reproduce something beloved from years ago and unfortunately, that thing doesn't hold up well. Unlike "Double Dragon Neon," which used the classic brawlers as a loose template for some wild (if slightly clunky) action, "Remastered" is too faithful, a throwback to less imaginative platformers of years past. There's even an unlockable gallery of character images and a chance to swim around Scrooge's money vault, but neither of these extras in any way enhances the actual gameplay experience.
"DuckTales Remastered" is available now for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Wii U.
