Ubisoft and Sony are best buds, it would seem. First, during yesterday's PlayStation presser, it was revealed that Watch Dogs for both the PS3 and PS4 will include exclusive content.
Sony claimed that it's about an hour long and will include four missions, a new character skin, plus a hacking perk. It concerns a group known as DedSec:
Apparently not all hackers are friends, and they appear to be just as much trouble to Aiden Pearce as LulzSec, the real life "cyber terrorists" that are clearly the inspiration for DedSec, was to Sony a couple of summers ago.
In related news, Ubisoft also revealed an upcoming Watch Dogs motion picture that is being produced by both Sony Pictures and New Regency Productions.
Here's an expert from the press release, which again illustrates how chummy Ubi and Sony are these days:
“Since both Sony and Ubisoft have movie and video game branches, this deal creates exceptional opportunities for us to merge the realms of the story-based cinematic experience with the interaction of the video game,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer, Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “In addition, Sony Pictures and New Regency have deep production expertise and are letting us maintain a strong creative voice in the film’s development. Together, we’re confident we can deliver a movie that builds upon the excitement that the game is already generating.”
New Regency Productions, by the way, are also handing the big screen adaptations of Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed.
