With yet another Smash Bros game on the horizon (technically two, for both Wii U and 3DS), it's time once again to speculate what characters will make the cut. Though it's also a chance for some to make a wish, like Mega Man fans all did, and who were all thusly rewarded.
But there are those who would also like to see Reggie Fils-Aime added to the roster. Yes, the in real life president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America. Why? Why not? He's just as much a Nintendo personality as Mario, Link, and Samus, or so the theory goes.
And it's an idea that he's certainly up, as noted in a Twitter driven Q&A last month, on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon:
An online petition has recently sprung up, on Change.org. According to its author, Subik Cookies:
"Reggie Fils-Aime… shot to fame in E3 2004 with his opening line: "My name is Reggie. I'm about kickin' ass, I'm about takin' names, and we're about makin' games." His humorous quotes and theatrical antics have made him into a gaming celebrity.
Many Nintendo fans have pleaded for Reggie to be in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games and he would be a unique character. He could use Nintendo controllers and characters to his advantage as attacks."
Subik Cookies is also asking for help, via Twitter:
"To raise awareness about this, please use the hashtag #ReggieForSmashBros and Tweet to @Sora_Sakurai to let him know about this petition. Also Tweet to @NintendoOfAmerica, @NintendoEurope, and @NintendoUK ; and post about this on Miiverse to prove to Nintendo that Reggie deserves a spot on the roster."
As of this writing, the petition has 19,782 signees.
