What good is a Comic Con without a game announcement? And at the Capcom panel, which has become a staple of the show for years now, the publisher decided to lift the curtains off a brand new game on the way, which is how they also almost always close the proceedings.
Another classic game is being brought up to modern specs, and this time it's Strider. The Russian super ninja has been a fan favorite since his debut in the arcades back in 1989, and has starred in a few games here and there since. With the last one being Strider 2, for the original PlayStation in 1999.
Though since then, he's mostly been a co-star in the Marvel Vs. Capcom series, which is how most people might know him. So perhaps it's about time that folks got to walk in the shoes of Strider Hiryu as he normally does, as the star of side scrolling slash-em' up.
The new title, simply titled Strider, is being developed by Double Helix (who is also working on the Killer Instinct revamp) and is slated for early next year for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
Bonus video time; a rather lengthy look at the new and improved gameplay. There's a considerable degree of less jumping around and more just running plus plowing through enemies, as compared to previous titles. Which is not a bad thing, mind you:
