The incredibly open space MMO from CCP Games is getting a TV series based on the adventures of its players.
Clashing space corporations and massive galactic raids are likely to be a part of the "EVE Online" TV series, currently being developed by filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur. The game's True Stories From the First Decade--a collection of crowdsourced narratives based on players' first decade with "EVE Online"--would provide the basis for at least some of the show's plots.
In a statement, Kormákur said “The EVE universe is full of astounding stories of epic battles, daring heists, and gripping political intrigue, all of which will make for an amazing television series.”
The game is set in a dystopian future where rival societies battle it out using commerce and actual combat for supremacy after being flung beyond a wormhole. "EVE Online" is popular (or notorious) for its robust community which does things like plan massive, in-game economy-shattering heists.
