Nary a day after “Killer is Dead” details hit the web, Japanese trade magazine Weekly Famitsu has posted an English-subtitled trailer for Grasshopper Manufacture’s newest futuristic bloodbath.
The slick trailer oozes style and introduces Mondo Zappa, the game’s protagonist, and shows off his katana and gun-arm. Like its predecessors in the “Assassins” series, “Killer is Dead” carries all of executive producer Goichi Suda’s hallmarks: it’s violent, it’s gory, and it’s beautifully cel-shaded.
It’s also got a blonde woman with eight arms octo-wielding pistols, which is no doubt the stuff of nightmares.
As a sidenote, this trailer is scored with Antonín Dvořák’s 9th Symphony, which seems to be en vogue: Capcom also used it in trailers for their campy space-brawler “Asura’s Wrath.”
“Killer is Dead” will be out this summer in Japan, with “Killer 7” and “No More Heroes” fans hoping for an American release.
