How the nighttime rain-slicked streets provided inspiration to the RPG and the reinvention of his pen and paper classic in "Cyberpunk 2077."
In the video, from "Cyberpunk 2077" develop CD Projekt Red, follows Pondsmith as he works out what "Cyberpunk" has meant to him as a creation over the years. Pondsmith, a 30 year veteran of both video games (he used to provide graphic design for California Pacific Computer Company back in the 80's) and traditional RPGs has been at work on a pen and paper followup to "Cyberpunk" with a fourth edition book.
The last edition was 2005's "Cyberpunk v3.0" and it feels like technology has tilted and shifted in enough new and interesting ways for Pondsmith to draw some new points of inspiration beyond Gibson and Stephenson. Of course, as Pondsmith says, "It's not just the technology, it's the feel."
