Disney brings their library of modern film characters to the collectible figure/action-adventure game space in this multi-platform title.
The June release--coming to the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and 3DS--will focus on collectible figures that you can add to your game via a wireless base a la Activision's "Skylanders." In this case, though, you'll be commanding Disney properties like Captain Jack Sparrow and Buzz Lightyear. The characters will have their own Play Sets--worlds built around their respective property (i.e. "Toy Story," "Pirates of the Caribbean," etc.) where you'll presumably duke it out with characters from those franchises.
On the game's recently-launched official site, the feature they really seem to be pushing is the Toy Box: the ability to unlock and play with virtual toys and goods in-game, throwing a little bit of "LittleBigPlanet" into the mix. It does seem like the focus here is on an open-ish adventure with less emphasis on the combat (I'm solely basing this on the snippets of gameplay we've seen in the trailer, though).
So what do you think? Are you ready to start filling your home with little collectible Disney figures? And what do you think about the priority that seems to be given to modern Disney characters? Where are Donald, Mickey, and Uncle Scrooge?
