While we wait on more details about "Bayonetta 2," Platinum Games has announced that they're adding the lunar-powered witch to their upcoming arena brawler "Anarchy Reins." Well, that is if you preorder the January release at Gamestop, then you'll get the hirsute heroine as a playable character along with two new multiplayer modes. Not maps, modes.
The two new modes are the Horde-style Mad Survival and the aerial combat of Dogfight. In the three-player Mad Survival, you'll have to fight off waves of the usual grunts you encounter in the "Anarchy Reins" campaign, gradually spawning in some of the playable characters to add more of a challenge. In Dogfight, you'll be dangling from a helicopter where you'll shoot at your opponents until all of them are blasted out of the sky.
While I can understand gating a character behind a preoder scheme, it's weird to bury actual game modes in the same deal--especially for a title that SEGA was curiously iffy about bringing to the U.S. in the first place. On the plus side, "Anarchy Reins" will be priced on the cheap at $29.99 when it's released for the 360 and PS3 on January 8th.
