According to the official website, Badland is an “atmospheric side-scrolling action adventure located in a gorgeous forest full of beautiful trees, flowers and various inhabitants of the forest.” There's also a bunch of scary looking booby traps that will cut the oddly shaped flying creature players control into a million gruesome pieces. Sounds fun, right?
The game comes from two former RedLynx developers who've now established their own indie studio dubbed Frogmind. While the Trials devs may have traded in their dirt-bikes and wacky motocross tracks, side-scrollers are still the name of the game, at least for now.
Using simple touch controls combined with innovative physics based gameplay, players are tasked with helping a mysterious flying creature navigate through a forest full of death traps just waiting to tear them apart. Visually it's very reminiscent of Limbo, but the environments do feature a bit more color and, in my opinion, look much prettier. You can check out the trailer below.
No word on when it will be available, but we do know it's coming to all iOS devices. Also, Frogmind says this is only the beginning of what we can expect from Badland. In a recent blog post the team revealed that they have “two really big feature announcements to make” later this year. We'll be sure to fill you when those announcements are made.
