PlayStation 3 gamers looking to build up that digital collection, who also plan on snagging Borderlands 2 next week have a new option. Sony revealed yesterday that Gearbox's highly-anticipated, treasure-hunting sequel will be available as a digital download through the PlayStation Network on launch day.
Revealed during the latest PlayStation Blogcast, the digital edition will deliver everything you'd expect, with one exception – Premiere Club access. Unfortunately the digital copy of Borderlands 2 isn't available for pre-order, which is the only way you can get Premiere Club access and the nifty DLC incentives that come along with it, including the Gearbox Gunpack, the Vault Hunter's Relic, the Creature Slaughter Dome and Gaige the Mechromancer.
If Sony, Gearbox or any others expect to switch gamers over from physical to digital, they're going to have to do better than this. Not only have they waited until the very last minute to let everyone know, the game isn't coming with any of the extra content that has spurred so may pre-orders. What are they thinking?
