After a piece in Famitsu confirmed that a new Ace Attorney game was on the way, IGN learned from Capcom that the fifth installment of the main series will be headed to the West with further news on the way in the near future.
The new game is headed for the 3DS along with the crossover Layton vs. Ace Attorney which is itself getting a release sometime this year in Japan (no word on a domestic release, though). The release date for Ace Attorney 5 is TBA, but according to the Famitsu article, one thing we do know is that Phoenix Wright will be returning as the lead, accompanied by a mysterious girl in yellow who will serve as a central figure throughout the game. Wright returns after being briefly replaced by Apollo Justice in the fourth game.
This would be the first time the series was featured on the 3DS so expect lots of stereoscopic objections sometime in the next year or so.
