Play the 1989 version of Borderlands 2 that never existed.
Okay, so it might not be the total Borderlands experience to tide you over until next month's release of the Gearbox sequel but "The Border Lands" demake is a fun little way to spend 15 or 20 minutes blasting away at the beasties and lunatics of Pandora in your browser.
You can choose from one of four characters--heavy Salvador, fleet-footed Maya, medium dude Axton, and Zero the robot (What, no co-op?! I'm done here)--and proceed to strafe and shoot endless waves of monsters as your level up your little Vault Hunter while earning more randomized guns. It's maybe the purest, distilled essence of Borderlands for the series faithful, and I'm guessing it's probably going to eat up a lot of gamers' time today.
Oh, and it has a viral video-type thing, too:
Technically, it looks more 8-bit than anything else (while sounding plenty 16-bit) but I'm not going to argue too much with the free game.
You should really try "The Border Lands" now.
Borderlands 2 will be available on September 21st for the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.
