Taking a page straight out of Rovio's book, Zynga and Hasbro have apparently struck a deal that will bring several of the mobile/social game developer's most popular titles to our coffee tables. That's right, games such as CityVille, FarmVille and Words with Friends are getting the physical board game treatment.
Being a life-long fan of Monopoly, the game I'm most excited to see come out of this partnership has to be CityVille Monopoly. Of course, things are a little different this time, as the goal will be building skyscrapers rather than bankrupting your opponents, but it could pretty fun to play monopoly with a new set of rules.
The other games don't look all that thrilling, especially Word with Friends considering I already have a Scrabble board that doesn't get much use. And the FarmVille adaptation... Well, let's just say Hungry Hungry Hippos got old really quick when when I was 6 and I can't imagine Hungry Hungry Herd will offer enough originality to revive my interest.
Draw Something, Zynga's most recent
purchase success, will also be getting a physical counterpart, but details are slim at the moment.
CityVille Monopoly, Word with Friends and Hungry Hungry Herd will be hitting shelves this October for about $20 - $25. Which one, if any, will you be picking up?
