After conquering retail and reviewers and retail two and a half years ago with their first co-op shooter/RPG hybrid, Gearbox has announced that Borderlands 2 will be making its way to PCs, the 360, and PS3 on September 18th. More details including preorder bonuses and the trailer after the jump.
In addition to the final release date, publisher 2K Games and Gearbox have sent along details on a series of preorder bonuses for the sequel dubbed the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, which essentially unlocks some additional weapons and items in-game and will be available at select retailers. Specifically, this is what you get with your membership in the club:
- Gearbox Gun Pack: Pretty much what you'd guess, a collection of rare guns that you can use to start blasting away at the game's new enemies.
- Vault Hunter's Relic: A tat boost for treasure hunting for both solo and co-op play.
- The Golden Key: This key unlocks a single rare item in the game located in the Golden Sanctuary Loot Chest. I wonder what kind of message players who didn't receive the preorder bonus will get if they come across this chest?
The sequel, taking place on the loot-rich planet of Pandora, will offer some tweaks and modifications of the first game's gun-crazy mechanics. We brought you some details about these changes a couple of months back, but it looks like a lot of it boils down to making the skill trees more dynamic and the skills themselves more reactive to one another. I'm curious to see how Gearbox has shaken things up over the last couple of years and how different the new game feels and plays.
